In the NFL parity reigns supreme.  Take a look at Every superbowl since the Broncos went back to back.  The Patriots are the closest thing to a dynasty and even they couldn't get it down in successive seasons.  Other than franchises that mire themselves in mediocrity (Lions, lions, browns and lions) every team has a chance and it's all about luck and chemistry.  Obviously the patroits have a great recipe but the nfl is king of the xerox and anything done well, will be copied, manipulated and improved.

the raiders struggled to two wins last season and that was with a third ranked defense.  the defense is still intact including the defensive coaching staff.  Coaching makes all the difference in the world.  Please reference san Diego Chargers 2007-2008.  Bring in a new young coach, a new blocking scheme, a veteran quarterback with something to prove and that is a recipe for success.

The Schedule:  Confidence is built early after off season changes and the raiders get to build confidence early with the lions and browns.  the schedule is brutal, but hey its the raiders and the schedule is always brutal.  The middle of the season is going to be tough which will allow things to settle down for this team to gel and a 4-4 midseason will keep things in perspective.  As evidenced by the Steelers superbowl run if you get hot late you can roll right through the superbowl and be crowned.  the raiders face the bears and colts in the final stretch and wins against these two teams will upload confidence for a successful playoff run.

The Raiders are Back:  I see a ten game turnaround and still there will be questions and doubt leaving teams unprepared for a playoff battle against a team that tasted shame and hungers for pride.  The road to the superbowl in arizona runs through Oakland !  Do you believe.  Worst to First baby !

are you crazy or what???? i love the oakland raiders, but they are not going to win 6 games this year. it will take at least two years to get this new offense down, and although their defense was good last year, it will not be as good this year. teams didn't have to test them much. just score two touchdowns and the Raiders would fold. teams will push the ball harder this year and the defensive weaknesses will be exposed. i predict a slight improvement on offense and a slight regression on defense. all adds up to a 5-11 season.

please dont EVER mention the Steelers superbowl team and this years Raiders team in the same breath ever again.. what the Steelers did in the playoffs has never been done before...

Ummmmm.......................................Raiders fan and.....................Ummmmmmmmmm....................Can I get what u r smoking????? Raiders realistically looking at 6-10..............However if Pepper is 80% of 2004 Culpepper, Raiders cld go 8-8 or 9-7 and be a contender for a Wild Card.............Dont be a homer.............Or a myopic fan...........1st??? Snow ball's chance in Hell...........Even if Culpepper puts up MVP type numbers, we still have some holes..........

Hey man, you say whatever the hell you want and don't listen to any of the homers on this site. Cuz if what you predicted just happen to come true these guys will have to bow down. You never know what will happen and no one, absolutely, no one can predict the season, win or lose. So keep the faith cuz you just never know.

I haven't really given out a prediction except that they won't enbd up last again. But I do comment to all those idiots who say the will be 2-14 again and so forth. Cuz as I've already posted if the Raiders do happen to go past 6 wins, I"M SETTING UP A BLOG CALLING OUT EVERYONE!!!!

People shouldn't open their damn mouths if they don't want to look stupid later. Damn critics!

hey trunk monkey
"too many questions about both lines"
Have you seen our D line. We have one of the deepest defensive lines in the league. Our starting four are Burgess, Sapp, Sands, Kelley. They all can bring it. So can our reserves Gerrard Warren, and rookies Quentin Moses & Jay Richardson look like they will be future stars.

The Defense will be exposed? Are you kidding me? That defense is only going to be better. Brayton is relegated to second string (ZERO sacks last year) w/ Kelly taking his place, Sands is now starting-that line is solid. Their play against the run was the only question mark but with Sands there it will be a question no longer. I dont see just a mild imrovement over last year-you really think teams were taking it easy on the defense? They are the raiders-every one likes to beat them. The defense won the game against the steelers by themselves-NOBODY TOOK IT EASY ON THEIR DEFENSE.

Raiders will be the talk of the season-no doubt.
