When it comes to college football vs. the NFL, there is no comparison. Literally.

Personally for me, I can't compare the two. It's like apples and oranges. Night and day. Lindsay Lohan and no drug habits. Two very different things.

College football is like the troubled teenager you can't help but love. Sure he has some flaws (the BCS system) but he has so much passion you can overlook them.

The atmosphere is the biggest part of what seperates college football from the NFL. Stadiums are filled with sometimes over 100,000 screaming fans, which is just something you don't get in the NFL. Games like Rutgers vs. Louisville, Boise State vs. Oklahoma, and hundreds of other upsets, comebacks, and instant classsics make NCAA football so enjoyable to follow and watch.

The NFL on the other hand is the grown up businessman who takes charge and dominates everything in his way.

The players are the best of the best, and some of the greatest athletes in the world. Find me another sport with a player who is 6'4", 260 pounds, and can run a 4.5 forty yard dash like Brian Urlacher. Find me a guy who can throw a 40 yard strike and get the ball in between two defenders when he knows a defensive lineman is going to light him up, like so many NFL quarterbacks can. The NFL has numerous athletes like this, and it's incredible to watch.

It's America's biggest stage, and according to the individual fan, it might be the best competition in the world.

While there's always teams that are predicted to win and do well, and often do, maybe that's what makes the NFL so great to watch. Teams rarely do great one season and fall out of contention for the next five years. It takes time and plenty of hard work to be a consistent threat in the NFL. Teams focus on building from the ground up with the draft, adding a few key players through trades or free agency, and then making a run at it.

But that's not to downplay the other great moments in the NFL. The New Orleans Saints last season were a remarkable story. Teams like the 1985 Chicago Bears, who America fell in love with because of guys like Walter Payton and the Fridge. Or the Cowboys, who proclaimed themselves as America's team. There are still great upsets in the NFL, terrific games, and nail biting moments.

With college football in full swing today, and the NFL only a week behind, I'm ready to sit back and enjoy both of them well into next year. Just don't ask me to pick a favorite.

Good blog

Nice blog. The only entertaining college game today is CSU vs. CU. The rest of the match-ups are catered to help big programs get off to a big start. Worthless.
