One game and nine innings later Red Sox rookie Clay Buchholz not only made history but proved to everyone why he belongs in the bigs in the first place.
A few stats attached to Bucholz's achievement stand out
1. He is the 18th pitcher in Red Sox history to throw a no hitter
2. he is the second pitcher since 1900 to throw a no hitter in his second start the first being Wilson Alvarez in 1991
3. 17th rookie pitcher since 1900 and 10th since 1970 to throw a no hitter
4. First Red Sox rookie to throw a no hitter
All and all it's a big accomplishment for a young starter who was just called up from the minors just hours before. Congrats again to Buchholz and here's to a bright future for you in the Red Sox organization
