Well the final roster cuts have been made and to no one's surprise Jeremy Bloom was cut by the Eagles. Drafted in the fifth round of last year's draft out of Colorado this kid gave the Eagles what exactly? Nothing. He spent all of last year on IR and then came out this year and coulddn't even cut it long enough to make the team. This guy was an Olympic skier and I think that frankly the best advice that anyone could possibly give this kid is to basically stick to what he's good at and try in some small way to resurrect his skiing career because he won't be on any NFL rosters anytime soon I don't think.
In a way it's almost like he didn't totally think out his career path. He wanted to ski and he was good at that and at the same time he wanted to play football and he was good at that (in college) but where he excelled was at skiing where he actually had success winning gold in the 2002 Winter Olympics. That's where his success was and thats how it should have stayed for him.
In the end this was a "mercy cut" and I say that because I think that the Eagles pretty much knew he wasn't going to make it in the NFL so they let him go as a means for him to explore other opportunities whatever they might be. Maybe he will catch on with another team at some point but who knows only time will tell.
