I mean, let's admit it...does the average fan have ANY idea what the pitching and hitting coach do? What does Kevin Long talk about with A-Rod, Jeter, Matsui, Abreu, Damon...does he make ANY difference? On that note, what does the pitching coach do? And when the bullpen has been as awful as the Yankees this year...with a K/BB ratio that's absolutely shameful...shouldn't he be fired? Can someone tell me that he did his job, whatever that was? It sure wasn't telling Clemens, Pettitte, Mussina, etc. how to pitch. Wang seemed to have his own clue, too. But Proctor, Farnsworth, Vallone, Bruney...even Hughes...put so many guys on base the easy way, can someone tell me that Guidry has done a fabulous job? A fabulous job at WHAT, exactly? WHAT DO THESE GUYS DO FOR A LIVING, AND ARE THEY DOING IT WELL RIGHT NOW?!?!?!
