The recent chaos in WWE creative due to firings, suspensions and injuries finally came to a head on tonight's RAW. Finally the WWE was able to accomplish something really shocking in the wake of the limo explosion to get that strong of an impact. The illegitimate son storyline looked like it would be very obvious with Mr. Kennedy, but the WWE decided to do something really radical. Instead of trying hopelessly to use an angle to get new talent over, they are using it on already established talent.
The first part of this new line of creative is to reveal that Triple H and Stephanie are really married within kayfabe. At this point in time it really works and gives Triple H a new, yet familiar, direction to take his character. And of course within kayfabe they can always just get divorced at some point and get Triple H really over as a heel. Triple H is always better when he's involved with other personalities, and with Shawn Michaels hurt and Randy Orton & Batista doing their own thing the McMahon family are the best personalities to interact with on television. I love this idea, it was definitely time to try it. Triple H is a McMahon family member for real and his character should participate in the McMahon family soap opera.
But that's not the real shocker. At the end of RAW it was announced that DNA tests confirmed that Mr. Kennedy is not McMahon's illegitimate son. An actor playing an attorney for the plaintiff in the paternity suit read a message from his client to give a hint as to the identity of the illegitimate son: "things are looking up." WOW, OMG, some people might think that makes no sense but to me that is BLATANTLY obvious! There is a "thing" that has been looking up, from his grave. But legend has it that he can't be killed...he keeps coming back. And he returns at Unforgiven in less than two weeks, live, only on pay-per-view! LOL! Ever since the limo explosion, I had this premonition that the Undertaker would be involved in the McMahon storyline because with his character there are no boundaries. The Mr. McMahon character is so ridiculous that it doesn't seem out of place with the Undertaker.
At last the WWE has decided to keep the absolute top talent close to the McMahons because the chemistry really works with characters that get that big. Triple H, Undertaker, and of course Steve Austin, have them involved with the crazy McMahon family while John Cena is going berzerk from Randy Orton's cold blooded assault on Cena Sr., wow that's an exciting television show. That's the best stuff I've seen since the Attitude Era. Tonight was a big night to reveal a new direction with WWE creative: go with what you know works if people will still pay to see it. I think I will.
