Today the Broncos signed 10 year vet Simeon Rice to a one year deal worth $3 million.
I would say that all and all as a Broncos fan I'm pretty excited about the upcoming season because his signing bolsters an already strong defense and would ultimately make them one of the best defenses in the league.
At this point in his career Rice has 121 sacks which is second only to Strahan among active player and in the 10 or 11 years that he's been in the league he has registered 10 or more sacks 8 times. The last Bronco to even have ten sacks in a season was Reggie Heyward in '04 when he had 10 and a half.
I know that everyone will say that the guy is 32 and that most guys at that age are washed up but this man has a chance to thrive in Denver and at the same timebe a leader on defense and a mentor to first round pick Jarvis Moss. So in the end the defense will be incredible with his presence and they will more than likely improve on the 35 sacks that they had last season.
GO BRONCOS!!
