Dirk Johnson was just one of many cut by the Eagles. Dirk Johnson has never been a good putter, and the Eagles saw a chance to improve their chances in the punting game and took it. Sav Rocca has looked really good this preseason. He had some booming kicks, including a 60 plus punt. He also consistently put the ball inside the 10, something Johnson has struggled at his entire career. Rocca, the former Australian Rules Football player, will take over the starting punter job.

Rocca is looking to follow in the footsteps of Dallas punter Mat McBriar, a Pro Bowler, and Jets punter Ben Graham as Australian Rules Football players who successfully became top NFL punters. With previous Australian players become top punters and the fact that Rocca has looked exceptional this preseason, I have high hopes for Rocca.

Jeremy Bloom was also cut. He was injured all last year and didn't play that well this preseason. As of now Greg Lewis will return punts and Correll Buckhalter will return kicks.

Outlaw, tackle Jonathan Palmer, linebacker Dedrick Roper, defensive tackle Jeremy Clark, wide receiver Bill Sampy and tight end Lee Vickers.
