With the regular season finally here it is time for my thoughts on this weeks Eagles matchup
The Green Bay Packers look to be a team that could go either way in their division this year It is not a strong division and other than Chicago it has a lot of question marks. One thing we do know about the Pack is that Favre will be throwing the ball all over the field. Combine that with a rookie starting at RB, and it will be interesting to see how often Favre and his arm will be relied upon.
Look for the Eagles secondary to shutdown the receivers, and force the Packers to lean on the running game. Although the Eagles have been criticized for their run defense as of late, look for a good performance. It won't be great run stopping but I say they keep the Packers to under 110 yards rushing with one rushing TDs.
The Packers might look to the tight ends and try to see how Gaithers will do in coverage, but I think he will be fine and will see some help from the rest of the Eagles defense in his first game as the true starting MLB.
On offense the Eagles will tear up the Packers secondary, look for Reggie Brown to have a huge day with a minimum of 6 catches and over 100 yards. Kevin Curtis will see some long balls and should break off a couple receptions for big yardage.
Westbrook will have his usual excellent game and run for 80 and catch for 60 and 1 TD, with Hunt also getting in on the action with a short yardage TD.
If this game was later in the year or in Philly I would say it would be a blowout, but season opener at Lambeau can be scary so it will be closer than it should be.
Eagles 27 - Packers 20.
