Third in a series by ballplayr9, but the group will put out several more.  The WRs drafted on Day One of the 2000 NFL Draft (Rounds 1,2, and 3)

Round 1:

#4: Peter Warrick, Bengals (now with Seahawks).  81 Games, 275 receptions, 2991 yards, 18 TDs, 2 return TDs.  Technically on Seattle's roster, but not one of top 5 WRs.  No game stats since 2005.  One of the big busts of the first round.

#8: Plaxico Burress, Steelers (with Giants since 2005).  102 G, 200 Rec, 6366 yds, 39 TDs.  Arguably the best WR from the draft.  Has an excellent 15.9 career yards per catch average.  Stats have suffered in NY due to inconsistencies at the QB position.

#10: Travis Taylor, Ravens (now with Raiders via Vikings).  99 G, 311 Rec, 4013 Yds, 22 TDs.  Hard to call him a total bust, but not a first round pick.  Has bounced around the league, is currently the #3 reciever in Oakland.

#21: Sylvester Morris, Seahawks.  15 G, 48 Rec, 678 Yds, 3 TDs.  Not hard to call him a total bust.  Out of the league since the end of the 2000 season.

#29: R. Jay Soward, Jaguars.  13 G, 14 Rec, 154 Yds, 1 TD.  Another complete and total bust.  His career stats look like one game totals.  Out of the league since the end of the 2000 season.

Round 2:

#32: Dennis Northcutt, Browns (now with Jaguars).  100 G, 276 Rec, 3438 Yds, 11 TDs.  The consummate backup.  His stats have fallen recently, and he is currently 4th on the depth chart in Jacksonville.

#36: Todd Pinkston, Eagles (not with Redskins).  78 G, 184 Rec, 2816 Yds, 14 TDs.  His stats are very comparable to Warricks, only he was picked 32 picks after.  Somewhat of a bust, he is currently 5th on the Redskins' depth chart.

#47: Jerry Porter, Raiders.  89 G, 240 Rec, 3234 Yds, 24 TDs.  Has great potential, but something always gets in the way.  Sat out 12 games in 2006 after disputes with the coaching staff.  Currently the #1 WR in Oakland.

Round 3:

#66: Ron Dugans, Bengals.  46 G, 89 Rec, 797 Yds, 3 TDs.  The Bengals picked 2 WRs in the first three rounds and neither worked out.  Out of the league since 2002.

#69: Dez White, Bears (played with Falcons for 04 and 05 seasons).  82 G, 187 Rec, 2149 Yds, 11 TDs.  Out of the league after the 2005 season.

#70: Chris Cole, Broncos.  35 G, 12 Rec, 164 Yds, 0 TDs.  Another guy whose career stats look like those of, say, Marvin Harrison for one game.  Out of the league since 2003.

#73: Ron Dixon, Giants.  37 G, 36 Rec, 696 Yds, 4 TDs.  Out of the league since 2002.

#78: Laveranues Coles, Jets.  109 G, 506 Rec, 6599 Yds, 31 TDs.  Interesting that arguably the best WR from this class would fall to the third round.  Currently the Jets' #1 reciever.

#79: JaJuan Dawson, Browns.  30 G, 52 Rec, 664 Yds, 2 TDs.  Out of the league since 2002.  The most interesting thing about him is the two people he was drafted between.

#80: Darrell Jackson, Seahawks (now with 49ers).  96 G, 441 Rec, 6445 Yds, 47 TDs.  Perhaps the best WR in the draft.  One of the most underrated players in the NFL since 2002.  Currently the Niners' #1 wideout.  He has 3 1000+ yards seasons and an excellent 14.6 yards per catch.

There you have it all the WR taken in the first 3 rounds of the 2000 draft.  15 were taken, and 7 years later only Warrick (kind of), Burress, Taylor, Northcutt, Pinkston, Porter, Coles, and Jackson remain.  Stay tuned and the second day of the 2000 draft should be out soon.  I'm out.
