Weekly, I will give notes, thoughts and opinions about the Dallas Cowboys and their game for the week. I will also, after week one, give my post game comments from the week before. There is no heavy theory behind these opinions, just a best guess senario from info I have gathered, so with no further ado, let's get to week one:

Offenses

Dallas- First game for new Off. Coordinator Jason Garrett, who has a lot of weapons at his disposal. Terrell Owens has had a brilliant collection of games in his carrer against the Giants with 35 catches for 492 yards with five touchdowns in six lifetime meetings. Last season he had 182 yds./14 catches/ 1 TD vs. New York.  Combined totals for major players in last year's two meetings:

Tony Romo - 34 for 59/484 yds./2 TD/1 INT

Marion Barber III - 18 carries for 105 yds/2 TD

Patrick Crayton - 6 catches for 100 yds/1 TD

NY Giants- with the retirement of Tiki Barber, the workload will fall on the shoulders of Brandon Jacobs, who at 264 pounds, will deliver all the Cowboys can handle. Jacobs carried for 92 yds. in only 12 carries last season vs. Dallas accounting for one TD. The Giants rushed for 155 yds in the game at Teaxas Stadium last season. The addition of Reuben Droughns will compliment Jacobs, as he is also a bruising runner. Eli Manning threw the football at will last season in two games against the Cowboys, accumulating totals of 36 for 62 and 459 yards, including 4 TD passes. Other standouts were:

Plexico Burress - 8 catches for 137 yards and 2 TD

Jeremy Shockey - 8 catches for 88 yards and 2 TD

Defenses

Dallas- Wade Phillips brings his aggressive style 3-4 defense to Dallas for the 2007 season. A complete different style than Parcells ran last season, it will give the defense a more pressure oriented approach especially for up and coming phenom Demarcus Ware the ability to move around and attack from different spots on the field much as Merriman does for the San Diego Chargers. Sack total should increase this season and the focus on the game vs. New York will be to shut down the run. The secondary is still currently questionable with Terrence Newman still less than 100% due to a torn plantar fascia that limits his running and cutting ability. The Cowboys secondary will definitely need to step up coverage and shut down the big plays.

New York- the Giants were ranked 25th in the NFL last season, giving up an average of 342.4 yards a game. The Giants have plenty of skilled pass-rushers. Defensive end Osi Umenyiora, linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka and defensive end Michael Strahan can all get to the quarterback, but as is the case in Dallas, their secondary is also in question.

My prediction for week one:  Dallas - 27

                                                NY Giants - 23
