If the N.B.A. would put a team in Vegas I would be so happy.Of course I live there so it would mean alot to me.I moved from L.A. in 2003 after building Staples Arena.I have always been a laker fan listening to my dad yell at the T.V. during the early days and I grew up with Magic and Karreem on the T.V. Every year since I moved here I've gone to the pre-season games the lakers have here and last year went to the world basketball championships. Both events are held at the Thomas and Mack Center.Everytime I went it was jam packed to the roof.Everytime! The parents I speak with all want a team here and most of them are transplants who grew up rooting for their home teams(Whatever they were)Point being, they want something local to root for again.Something everyone can go to with or without the kids and have some good clean fun.I know that sounds weird in Vegas. The FIBA games confused me when I watched them on T.V. In case you didn't notice the stands were pretty much empty. The first game against Argentina had some people there but most of the others were dead.I can't figure it out.Every other basketball event in Vegas is slammed with people.Maybe it was because all the kids started back at school that week? The one thing I do know is if you want ratings don't start the games at 11:00 eastern time. The one Argentina game started at 12:00 a.m.Eastern time. Come on how many people on a work night are gonna stay up for that? How many kids can stay up that late and watch their idols? Not very many that I know.My point is that Vegas would support a team no doubt and don't let the stands make you think different. The schedual sucked almost as bad as my spelling!
