Well week 2 is in the books so lets take a look at what happened.
Big Ten: Wisconsin and Ohio State both had poor showings on offense, but at least Ohio St. can say their defense looked good even if it was against Akron. Penn St. thumped Notre Dame who has still not scored an offensive touchdown, and Michigan showed why you cannot rely on a 1st quarter 4 point lead.
SEC: Not as impressive overall this week. USC upsets Georgia in Athens leaving fans to wonder...Is USC that good or is Georgia just headed for another season of mediocrity in the SEC? Florida rolls in a game that is not as close as the score says, and LSU exploits not only Virginia Tech's weak offense but their terrible defense as well. Finally, USF over Auburn at Auburn (an upset many picked but I laughed at) leaves me to wonder if maybe I have been too critical of the Big East in recent years.
ACC: Wake Forest loses to Nebraksa who tried to give the game away late. WF starts out rough in the first 2 games this season, but should rebound with their upcoming games. Clemson and Georgia Tech did what they were supposed against inferior opponents, while Boston College improves to 2-0 in ACC play. Florida State struggles for 3 quarters before beating UAB by 10 leading some to wonder...Is this Bobby Bowden's final year?
Pac-10: Cal's defense looked terrible again as they have now given up 840total yards and 59 points in 2 games. That aside they have 2 wins (1 against top-25 team) and are +3 in turnovers. Washington is trying to show they belong by taking care of a ranked Boise St. squad holding Ian Johnson to 81 yards on 20 carries with no touchdowns. Arizona St. spotted Colorado 14 before realizing that if they did not turn the ball over Colorado isn't that great of an opponent. Oregon manhandles Michigan at the big house and more and more people are calling for Carr's head.
Big XII: Nebraska wins, Keller does not look impressive, and USC should not have any trouble in Lincoln next week. Oklahoma DESTROYS Miami. Sooner fans are calling for respect even though they are ranked number 5, some think Miami is just that bad. With no big challenges until Texas we will just have to wait and see. A&M wins but disappoints again as the defense almost let one get away. Also, will someone please explain the review of the review in the first overtime. It seems that the officials are off to a slow start this year. Texas beats TCU in 2nd half, but everyone knows TCU is not known for their offense this year, and the TCU defense helds its own in the 1st half. Tech regroups in 2nd half to take care of UTEP with Graham Harrell almost putting up Colt Brennan numbers.
Big East: This is a conference that I personally have been very critical of in the last couple of years, but with USF going to Auburn and winning all I can say is wow. Louisville showed their defense will lose them a couple of games this year while Cincy beats Pac-10 team Oregon State like they were owed money. Rutgers easily took care of Navy as Ray Rice had another great game. West Virginia struggled for one half then remembered they were only playing Marshall.
Interesting games this week: USC/Nebraska-May end up being a blowout, but it is in Lincoln. Tennessee/Florida-Always entertaining but UF should prevail. Georgia Tech/Boston College-Possible ACC championship preview? Louisville/Kentucky-Can Uk upset Louisville for the first time since '02? Not likely as the Louisville offense will move the ball and should be able to outscore a potent Kentucky offense.
Game of the week: Michigan vs. Notre Dame-Michigan's Mike Hart has almost guaranteed a ND victory by guarantying a Michigan win. Either way this one ends in an upset.
