I am so excited about the opeing kickoff of the NFL season. Saturday proved to be another boring day of college blowouts and provided no substitute for today.
Texans take the field vs. the Cheifs. I beleive the Texans will show something. The Cheifs have some holes, especially on the offensive line. Larry Johnson has made a mockery of the Texans in his past games against us. However, this year, Reliant Stadium should be rockin'. I'll take Texans over the Cheifs 24-20. Let's look at the games most intriguing matchups:
Schaub and Johnson vs. Surtain and Law - This is a veteran pair of CB's who've had much success in the past as individuals. If the CB's manage some turnovers, my prediction is in trouble. There's been allot said about Schaub, it's time to show it on the field. I think Johnson is going to love this guy.
Texans D-Line vs. KC O-line: Much has also been said about Mario Williams. Really the whole D-line is under pressure this season to do just that... create pressure. Today's game is about controlling the run. Okoye, Williams, Johnson and the recently returing Anthony Weaver will need to win the line of scrimmage against an imcomplete Cheifs line. This is a good test early on in the season. Speaking of the def line, I'll go on record here that I am a huge fan of the Babin for Boulware trade.
Tony Gonzales vs. Texans LB's and Safeties - DeMeco should rack up 15 tackles between stuffing the run and getting occasional coverage assignments against Gonzales. The TE could have a big game against Simmons/CC Brown. One question is how often Boulware will be on the field in his first game as a Texan. Does CC play FS when Boulware is in?
I can't wait. We're 1 hr and 15 minutes from Kickoff... Go Texans.
