The Phils find themselves 2 behind in the Wild Card race, pretty amazing if you remember that ther looked dead and buried a week ago. The Rockies come to town for 4 games starting this evening and the Rockies are fighting to make the playoffs and are 3 games out and 1 behind the Phils.
Ruben Amaro Jr the Phillies Asst. G.M. is reported to be the front runner for the Pirates G.M. job as well as being in the mix for the Astros job. Here is a thought, offer Amaro a new contract and either fire Gillick or since Gillick has only one year left on his current contract promise Amaro the job at the end of next season. Amaro by all accounts is one of the up and coming young G.M. candidates so let's keep him try to be proactive.
Another thought, sign Rowand as soon as possible. He wants to be here, we need him and it isn't often that a player wants to play here. By keeping him it solidifies the Outfield, leaves some flexibility if we need to make a trade of an outfileder in the off-season. Let's say to the Marlins in a Willis trade or something like that.
How abouth that innovator Charlie Manuel. Utley at first yesterday !!
