Unfortunately for the Bills, yesterday's game showed they still are finding ways to lose, rather than finding ways to win.
The Bills' offense did not show its explosive nature it is supposed to have, but I did like what I saw from Lynch. He got off to a slow start, but ran much better in the second half and I think he will make a huge impact this season.
That "bend but don't break" cliche was never more true than Sunday against the Broncos. The Bills had ZERO pass rush and Cutler made the throws he had to in big spots. Although, Cutler threw off his back foot a lot and his mechanics seemed a little sloppy at times, but it is only his 6th NFL game and he got the job done, so in that sense, I was impressed with his performance.
I do believe the Bills will have to rely on the offense to win games, but the defensive performance late in the game reminded me of another team I know so well which I will get to in a bit. No matter how potent or impotent the offense is, that defense has to be able to make a big play late in close games for them to have a sniff in the AFC.
In the locker room after the game, things were obviously somber because of Everett, but one thing I've noticed about JP since I started covering the Bills, he has a slight sense of arrogance to him, which I think works in his favor most times, but I get a feeling from the other more experienced reporter who have covered him longer than I have, they view it almost as a bit of immaturity or even rudeness. Personally, I don't think he's rude and certainly not intentionally, but it might come off that way to some people.
On that Sunday night game....business as usual for the Giants.....soft, soft, soft defense, injuries right off the bat and a loss that makes you want to put all the hair out of your head and put your hand through the television set. I have never been more frustrated watching one of my favorite teams play than watching the Giants over the last decade. They've had some very taleneted teams, but stupidity gets in the way ??? off-the-field drama, the dumbest penalties anyone has ever seen, that San Francisco debacle that I refuse to acknowledge actually happened in real life.
