Football is a violent sport and that became more and more evidant with the recent injury to Bills tight end Kevin Everett. He sustained a neck injury in Buffalo's 15-14 opening day loss to Denver while trying to make a tackle on special teams.
I think after this hit that the NFL should take a harder look at making the game safer for the players. I understand that injuries are an unfortunate part of the game but there needs to be more done to protect players. I'm not suggesting that we pad them up like a goalie in hockey that would take ALL of the fun out of the game but maybe something similar to what some linebackers have with the neck rolls but making it a little smaller for QB's RB's and WR's I don't know it's just a suggestion. Any thoughts on the issue would be appreciated.
Thoughts and prayers to Kevin Everett and his family and may he one day walk again.
