Well, it was not pretty but they got the job done. Now we can put one division game in the "W" column and get ready for the fish...
Random thoughts on the game...
Offense- Grade A-
Good numbers- Good running game-great passing (especially from Witten at tight end).
Line did a good job in pass protection. 146 yards rushing is nothing to be ashamed of either.
However, too many penalties. Flozell "False Start" Adams about turned into a drive killer. They will have to shore up these mental errors if the are going to stay at a high level of performance. (Incidentally, another reason to play starters in the last preseason game, or shorten preseason?)
Defense- Grade B-
Too many missed tackles-too many open receivers-Roy Williams burned deep
I would type more, but I think this was covered well enough last year.
Very disappointing to see the defense perform this way after we had heard so much about the changes that were going to take place.
Next week- Miami
Should be in good shape. With the Fish being passing challenged ( only 2?? yards passing against the anemic Redskins) the "Boys should be alright.
Division Lead-
"Boys" at the top.
Philly did not look good. McSlab looked tired and worn out in this game. Special teams was a mess. How many muffed kicks can you have in a game? Really surprised to see this from one of Reids' teams. They are usually more sound than that.
Redskins-Like their quarterback. He is green but looks to be a player. They just have too many pieces that looked forced into place. Not really a team.
Giants- What can you say? They are beat up bad. They may start out 0-3 before Jacobs gets back. Will "Coach Choking" still be there to greet him then?
