These are my rankings for the 2007-2008 NFL Season after Week One:
NOTE: I WILL ONLY RANK THE TOP 10 PLUS ONE EVERY WEEK, BECAUSE I STILL HAVEN'T FINISHED MY COLLEGE APPS...XD
1. Indianapolis Colts: They showed resiliency and determination over the long haul against the Saints, one of the best teams in the NFC, although that in itself doesn't mean much. The defense, with Bob Sanders back, looked like the postseason defense of last year, shutting Drew Brees down like he was nothing. Seems their loss of Cato June didn't affect them so bad; San Diego State alum Freddy Keiaho looked very good in his debut.
2. New England Patriots: Randy Moss was SO worth the 4th rounder. Oakland Raiders look bad in that trade, but really, what difference would Moss make in Oakland? This week was a warm up for next week's showdown versus the Chargers in Foxboro on Sunday Night Football.
3. San Diego Chargers: Got lots of luck to win that game against the Bears, although the Bears also got a lot of luck in keeping the Chargers off the scoreboard. Tomlinson looked like he was rusty, but I don't think he was. It was simply just a good Bears defense stacking eight --- and sometimes nine --- defenders in the box. Jim Brown wouldn't have done much better against the Bears on Sunday.
4. Chicago Bears: Let me just get this out...Rex Grossman, yes Sexy Rexy, actually looked pretty decent in the game against the Chargers. That one pick was on Bernard Berrian, I really believe that wide receivers should always be hustling, no matter what the circumstances, and that play maybe cost the Bears the game. Mike Brown in out, which is a immeasurable loss in that stout defense.
5. Cincinnati Bengals: Scored at will against the great Ravens defense, and T.J., who's on my fantasy team, scored. Woohoo.
6. Dallas Cowboys: Let Eli "The Punk" Manning(stole it from Maller, i know.) score 4 TDs, which makes me feel uneasy, but Tony Romo looked like the next coming of Johnny Unitas. Led the team up and down the field the entire game. Owens actually shut up for an entire game. Julius Jones, I think, is underrated. Even though I don't like the word "underrated" that much because everyone uses it every second they're alive.
7. Baltimore Ravens: Need to fix up that defense. Ray Lewis showed signs of aging in that game, although I don't think he's gonna be like that for long. I hate that Air McNair signal that Steve McNair constantly pulls off. Just so freaking annoying.
8. New Orleans Saints: Got completely destroyed by the Colts in the season opener. It seemed as if the Colts knew what was coming the entire time. Well, it wouldn't take a genius to find out the Saints' gameplans, because the offense of dangerously predictable. They'll need Reggie Bush to return to form. I heard that Mario Williams did pretty well for the Texans...
9. Denver Broncos: Barely squeaked by the Bills, thanks to that great clutch kick by Jason Elam, with time winding down. Cutler showed some poise at the end of that game, which is good news for the Broncos.
10. Philadelphia Eagles: The Iggles were beat by the Packers. Granted, it was at Lambeau and Green Bay does have a pretty nice defense, but...the Packers? The preseason darlings of the NFC will need to do MUCH better than they did against the Packers. Also, there is a possibility that the Eagles were looking past Green Bay.
And one. Tennessee Titans: Truthfully, I think Vince Young is overrated. But give credit where credit is due. Young never puts up great numbers, but always finds ways to win. Pacman Jones is not missed.
Well, there it is. Stay tuned for next week's edition of the Power Rankings---After Week 2. version.
