College Football Pretenders and Contenders:

Louisville- This team is still uncertain.  They have not played a real threat and it is easy to run up a score against weak teams.  Kentucky has a solid offense and it should be a great battle on Saturday.  Do not be too shocked if Kentucky upsets them on Saturday.  The loss on Saturday ended all hopes of a good season.  Kentucky hurt but Saturdays loss was the end of the dream.  Told you so...a decent team in the SEC gave them reality.- Pretender

Virginia Tech- I said all alone they were an average team but not a great team.  LSU brought VT back to reality.  They are good enough in a bad conference to be in te hunt; they were overrated but they are an average team; who knows....- Coin Flip

West Virginia- A solid team with an inconsistent defense.  Their schedule will still give them at shot at a division champioship. Horrible defense...they hagve gotten better.- Contender

Florida- They still have not played a real game but they are loaded with talent and will win the East.  They are not the strongest in the SEC but with that conference; anything can happen.  A big loss but there is still a chance at a title.  They will get better each week; better watch out for a huge run at the end!- Contender

LSU- If VT was their first test; then other teams are in trouble.  They won 48-7 and made it look easy.  They are loaded with talent and probally the best team in football.  The SEC will give them challenges but they should have a real shot at the NC.  The Forida game showed they are the team to beat...but Kentuckys win made them have to run the tables now.  The loss opened the door for many teams.- Contender

Wisconsin- They beat UNLV 20-13?!  I can agree they have a solid team but they are over ranked and are not a threat to beat a real top 10 team.  Saturday proved my thoughts on thir real potential.  Their division will however give them a shot at a division title.- Coin Flip

Penn State- Yes, they hammered ND; so will many teams this year.  They have a decent team and will have a shot at a division title this year.  They are not a national championship team...  A hard loss but still a decent team.  Great win on Saturday.- Contender

Georgia- The loss against SC was huge.  They will still win 8-9 games and they will have an outside shot at the East title.  They will contend but youth will keep them from a serious shot at the BCS games.  They are good enough to be a contender and their defense will give great teams trouble this year.  Alabama was a much needed win.  Tennessee's loss was big and they had better play consistent defense if they expect to get a decent bowl game or one at all.  Beating Vandy saved their seson and put them back in the hunt.- Contender

Notre Dame- Their was allot of talk and hope before the season begin but GT ended all dreams and brought ND to reality.  It will be a long season for ND fans.  Coach Weiss is a good coach but his lack of talent will make it one of his hardest years as a coach.  The future may be bright again at ND but not this year.  One of the worst teams in college.  Their worse start ever...  The organization has completely torn this program down.  Good luck Charlie!- Pretender

Ohio State- A great coach and he will keep them in many games.  They have many issues and once they play a real team; they will struggle but the win against Washington was a statement.  They are a decent team.  They are good enough to be a contender for their division. They get better each week against okay teams.  They are now in the hunt for the real game with USC's loss.- Contender

California- A team to watch... They will give USC a real game. Loaded with talent; they will make a run at the division.  I do not believe they are in the in the top 5 but a solid team.  USC better not overlook that game.  They probally blew their shot losing Saturday.  They are still a contender.- Coin Flip

USC- They do play several weak teams but they do have some challenges.  With their schedule and talent; they have a shot at their division.  The loss Saturday probally ends their shot at the title; you never know this year!  California will be their only real threat now at the division and that game is a toss up.- Contender

Auburn- They have real issues and LSU will destroy this team.  The coach will help them in games but they have no shot at the division this year.  They saved their season beating Florida but will not be close against LSU.  The win does however put them back as a possible contender; who knows...- Contender

Arkansas-Even though I think LSU is much better; this is a good team and they have real talent.  They will be in the running for the division.  The Alabams loss was huge for their shot at the division.  I am not sure how really good this team is.. A great RB does not mean a great season.  They look worse each week...- Pretender

Texas- They made a comeback against TCU???? A good coach but a real team will bring them to reality.  Texas's inconsistent play will stop them from the title.  This was a coin flip on contender vs. pretender.  They have talent; the QB has to stay healthy to win.  Losing their QB would put them out of the race.  They were lucky to beat UCF 35-32. They can beat soft or average teams but the juries out aginst real teams. Saturdays loss hurt their chance at true respect against a team who was crushed by K-State; who lost to Kansas.- Coin Flip

Missouri- A great team with an average coach.  The only thing that may stop them is their coach.  A real threat to take the division.  They have nothing to lose and no one expects them to win; this will be a solid year for them.  They started out 7-0 last year but fell apart.  They will be stronger this year and be able to finish games this year.  They are not a NC team but they will have a shot at the division.  Big loss but they could still easily win their division.- Contender

Nebraska- Weak conference and weak schedule.  They have talent but they are not a strong team.  USC showed where they really are in the real world.  Ball State should have won..They get worse each week.- Pretender

Tennessee- Good coach and QB; major issues on defense.  Florida will destroy their secondary.  Okay- they did as I thought against Florida, but they are a decent team.  They will still have a shot at a winning season but the division is out of reach.  The game vs. UGA brought life back and put them back in the race.  Now, the beating from Alabama killed their chances at respect.- Coin Flip

Oklahoma- A great coach with a solid QB.  They have a good schedule to help rebound from their shocking loss against K-State.  However it is clear now they have serious issues on defense.  Beating Texas brought them back to life...Big win on Saturday.  They may make a big run now and are a top team in football.- Contender

Oregon- An impressive win over Michigan but we all see now that Michigan was way over ranked this year. The jury is still out on them but they could be the surprise team of their division.  Time will tell...Great win on Saturday. This is a really good team.- Contender

South Carolina- Steve has them playing solid football.  There win over Georgia was no fluke and they will give teams a real battle all year.  I do not believe they can play with Florida but it will be an interesting year for SC.  Don't count them out...Good finish in the loss at LSU and this team will get better.  Big win over Kentucky. Huge los on Saturday.  They are in the hunt for the SEC but their NC hopes are gone... Contender

Alabama- Okay... The win over Arkansas was a statement but there are still allot of questions about the new and improved Tide.  I can tell you they are better and Saturdays loss to Georgia will only make them improve.  They are not as strong as LSU but they will have a solid season.  The loss to Florida State was a hit but they still can recover and have a few games that can save their season and pride.  They are in the driver seat and the Florida game will be huge for both teams.  Huge win against Tenn.- Contender

Kansas- Are you kidding me; 7-0!  With this years rankings..who knows- Contender

USF- Okay...they are now ranked at number five!  I do believe they are over ranked but so are others.  The loss threw them out of the NC hunt with their schedule.  Done...- Pretender

Kentucky- just when you think they are out they beat LSU!  This was a huge win and they could have a shot at the division.  When this team comes to play..  they are good, but the loss Saturdaywas huge!- Contender
