I was bored today. Was stuck in a rut on my English project and was thinking a lot about the NFL. So, I decided to do my Week 2 Predictions. I'm not going to do this reguarly, I was just bored. This was done for one purpose, to make people mad. I want people to submit those hateful comments saying Im retarded for snubbing their team. So...
Week 2 Picks:
Buffalo at Pittsburgh
Buffalo's Last Game: 15-14 Loss To Denver
Pittsburgh's Last Game: 34-7 Win Over Cleveland
My Prediction: Pittsburgh: 23 Buffalo: 10
Pittsburgh lit up the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. Ben Roethlisberger threw 4 TD's in that game and the Steelers looked better than ever. As far as Buffalo, they were involved in an ugly game vs Denver. The offense only put up 7 points. Marshawn Lynch did look good, he finished with 90 YDS on 19 carries. And then a TD to boot. I look for Willie Parker to have a great game vs the Buffalo defense. The Bills defense allowed 139 YDS to Travis Henry in Week 1. This game will more than likely be a dominant showing up front by Pittsburgh. Instead of Ben soaring through the air, Parker will roar on the ground.
Houston at Carolina
Houston's Last Game: 20-3 Win Over Kansas City
Carolina's Last Game: 27-13 Win Over St. Louis
My Prediction: Carolina: 30 Houston: 10
Carolina absolutely DOMINATED the Rams. They beat down one of the top offenses in the NFL. Then they rammed the ball down their throat. Carolina had a non existent run game in 2006, and in Week 1 they rushed for 180+ Yards. Granted, the Rams front 7 is small and not a great defense overall, but the Panthers still dominated. Jake Delhomme blew the Rams off the map with 3 TD's and of all people, Drew Carter caught two of them. Steven Jackson was held to only 58 YDS on the ground and he fumbled twice. Houston did ok against one of the teams that will be in the basement of the NFL by seasons end. I dont think Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub will hook up to many times vs the Panthers defense. And I guarantee Ahman Green doesnt see 80 YDS rushing. All in all, Carolina flexes their muscles once more.
Atlanta at Jacksonville
Atlanta's Last Game: 24-3 Loss To Minnesota
Jacksonville's Last Game: 13-10 Loss To Minnesota:
My Prediction: Jacksonville: 24 Atlanta: 9
Joey Harrington tossed up 2 INT's vs the Minnesota defense. A defense that was pretty bad vs the pass in 2006. The offense didn't do jack squat overall. Warrick Dunn was held to 55 YDS on 22 carries. The Jacksonville defense will eat this team up. As far as the other side of the ball, I could see the Jags run game getting back on track. They were shut down by Tennessee in the opener. Jones Drew and Taylor were held to 48 YDS combined. Atlanta gave up 100+ to Adrian Peterson in Week 1. This game is one I will NOT watch. A slow, ugly, run and defense dominated game.
New Orleans at Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay's Last Game: 20-6 Loss To Seattle
New Orlean's Last Game: 41-10 Loss To Seattle
My Prediction: New Orleans: 27 Tampa Bay: 20
The Saint were owned by Peyton Manning and the defending Super Bowl Champion Colts. New Orleans swept the Bucs in 2006, but this time around Jeff Garcia is the quarterback. The Buc offense diddnt do much of anything vs Seattle, but this will be vs the Saints. Jason David and his band of brothers were turned inside out vs Indy and I think Joey Galloway and his boy's at WR can do the same. Just not to the same degree of Harrison and Wayne. Cadillac Williams might be able to break 90+ YDS. The biggest concern is the Saint offense. They only put up 3 points vs Indianapolis. Brees just never could throw anything down field on that Cover 2. Tampa runs a Cover 2, but I just think the Saints will get it together. This game will be close like their Week 5 matchup from 2006.
Green Bay at New York Giants
Green Bay's Last Game: 16-13 Win Over Philadelphia
New York's Last Game: 45-35 Loss to Dallas
My Prediction: Green Bay: 24 New York: 7
Green Bay's defense brought the hammer down on the Eagles in Week 1. Granted, the Eagles botched it up on ST's which is why they really lost, but the Pack looked great. The Giants are coming in off a horrible loss to Dallas. The defense was lit up like a roman candle, and the offense is coming in with no Eli Manning. This game is going to be ALL Green Bay. Favre and Driver will probalbly hook at least twice and maybe even the run game might break through. Jared Lorenzen is not capable of propelling the Giant offense vs the Packers defense. This might even be over at half time. Like, the Packers being up 17-0.
San Francisco at St. Louis
San Francisco's Last Game: 20-17 Win Over Arizona
St. Louis' Last Game: 27-13 Loss To Carolina
My Prediction: St. Louis: 30 San Francisco: 23
St. Louis got pimp slapped by Carolina. San Francisco went through a nail bighter with Arizona. This one is on the turf, and I cant see Steven Jackson not having a huge bounce back game. He got held down to only 58 YDS, and he will be HUNGRY. The only thing that makes me shaky on this prediction, is the fact that Orlando Pace is gone for the season. We saw what happened to their offense when he went down vs Carolina. San Francisco will more than likely try to give the Ram defense a heavy dose of Frank Gore. And I see Gore topping 100 YDS. This one will be slow in the first half as the teams try to establish themselves, and then I'd like to think there would be a shootout in the 2nd half. Marc "Battle Of The" Bulger will light up the 49er secondary to redeem himself for Week 1.
Cincinnati at Cleveland
Cincinnati's Last Game: 27-20 Win Over Baltimore
Cleveland's Last Game: 34-7 Loss To Pittsburgh
My Prediction: Cincinnati: 38 Cleveland: 10
This is my BLOW OUT of the week. Cleveland got pwned by Pittsburgh through the air allowing Big Ben to rack up 4 TD's. Cincy got an impressive/controversial win over Baltimore. Baltimore couldnt hold onto the football, and the refs couldnt keep their flags in their pockets. (Todd Heap Off. Pass Interference) Chad Johnson busted out with a sub par performance in the celebration arena, he might have to come up with 2 or 3 new one's vs Cleveland. Carson Palmer has a 108.8 QB Rating when passing for 21+ YDS down the field. I can see him getting at least 350 YDS in the air. Rudi might even mix in a 90-100 YD game. Why even talk about the Brown offense? Charlie Frye is the QB.
Indianapolis at Tennessee
Indianapolis' Last Game: 41-10 Win Over New Orleans
Tennessee's Last Game: 13-10 Win Over Jacksonville
My Prediction: Indianapolis: 24 Tennessee: 10
These two teams have played each other very well as of late. They split the series last season. Tennessee is coming off of a great defensive performance against Jacksonville. Joseph Addia might have some problems. But, that doesnt mean Peyton will. They wont be nearly as effective as they were in Week 1, but the Colt offense will still get it done. Vince Young might end up having one of his worst games in his career. The Colt defense is coming off of maybe their most impressive performance in recent memory. They shut down the #1 offense in the NFL, only allowing 3 points. Vince will have to scramble way to much, and he might end up getting his bell rung by Bob Sanders a few times.
Minnesota at Detroit
Minnesota's Last Game: 24-3 Win Over Atlanta
Detroit's Last Game: 36-21 Win Over Oakland
My Prediction: Detroit: 20 Minnesota: 14
Something's gotta give. Minnesota's defense smashed Atlanta. Detroit's didnt do to well vs Oakland. Detroit's offense beat down Oakland. And Minnesota's did ok vs Atlanta. Minnesota's run game will do wonders, Peterson and Taylor contributing both TD's. And the defenses will keep the game slow and sluggish until the 4th. That is when the Lions will put up a quick TD pass to Roy Williams. This is another game I would NEVER watch.
Dallas at Miami
Dallas' Last Game: 45-35 Win Over New York Giants
Miami's Last Game: 16-13 Loss to Washington
My Prediction: Dallas: 21 Miami: 6
The Cowboy offense looked like an AFL offense vs the Giants. The Dolphin defense is MUCH tougher. I still think the Cowboys are capable of putting up some points. I think Jones and Barber will more than likely get more touches in this game. Romo might even toss more than 1 INT. Even if the Cowboys are slow on offense, Ware and company will hit Trent Green enough to remind him of the Cincy game. Ronnie Brown is just a complete bust. So, I dont see him giving much support to Green. The Dallas offense will do just enough to keep the Dolphin's down and out.
Seattle at Arizona
Seattle's Last Game: 20-6 Win Over Tampa Bay
Arizona's Last Game: 20-17 Loss To San Francisco
My Prediction: Seattle: 23 Arizona: 24
I think Matt Leinart will have a rebound game. He went 14/28, 102 YDS, 1 TD, and 2 INT's vs SF. I think he can at least rack up another 70-80 YDS vs Seattle. I think the big let down will be Edge. James was able to get 92 YDS against SF, but I see a terrible game vs Seattle. The Seattle defense is a much better one than SF's. Matt Hasselbeck played well and efficiently vs Tampa Bay. It was Alexander that did some heavy lifting. He put up 105 YDS on 27 carries, and then a TD. I think the Cardinal offense will do well in the air and keep the game tight while Seattle works the run game. In the end, I think Matt Leinart will be the reason why this game goes to Arizona. MY UPSET PICK OF THE WEEK
New York Jets at Baltimore
New York's Last Game: 38-14 Loss to New England
Baltimore's Last Game: 27-20 Loss to Cincinnati
My Prediction: Baltimore: 17 New York: 3
Brian Billick will be pissed off after a 6 TO game vs Cincy. He will look at his offense and do the one thing he knows they can do, run the ball. I see Willis McGahee getting at least 25 carries. The time of possesion will be dominated by Baltimore. I wouldnt be surprised if Balimore racks up 150+ YDS on the ground, and maybe only attempt 10 passes all game. McNair had his problems vs Cincy and was taken out late. There is a chance he might not even play. So, thats all the more reason for me to believe the Ravens will run, run, and run some more. Chad Pennington is supposed to be out. The offense wont have very many chances to get on the field and put up points. Basically, Clemens will spend a lot of time on the sidelines watching his defense get force fed the football.
Oakland at Denver
Oakland's Last Game: 36-21 Loss To Detroit
Denver's Last Game: 15-14 Win Over Buffalo
My Prediction: Denver: 20 Oakland: 10
Oakland is just not going to be able to score. Josh McCown is not capable of leading that team. We dont even know if Culpepper is either, but he's not starting. I see the Oakland defense making up big time for their performance against Detroit. 20 points might not seem dominant, but I dont think Denver will get to that until late in the 4th. By then, the Oakland defense would have been on the field way to much, and be gassed. Cutler will just manage the game by handing it to Henry and getting the 1st downs when needed through the air. Mike Shanahan will probably be prouder of this win than the one vs Buffalo.
Kansas City at Chicago
Kansas City's Last Game: 20-3 Loss To Houston
Chicago's Last Game: 14-3 Loss To San Diego
My Prediction: Chicago: 27 Kansas City: 0
This isn't my big blowout game simply because it wont be a pretty game. The Chicago offense will no doubt rely on the run game and the occasional deep pass by Grossman. Kansas City's defense is no push over, they wont allow to much. I just see a few defensive TD's by Chicago. After this game, Damon Huard's job will be in jeopardy. He might get sacked 2-3 times, and hit triple that. LJ might be able to fare better on the ground that LT did who only put up 25 YDS. This game is in Chicago, and I just see a dominant game by the Chicago defense. A few INT's returned back, maybe even a few FF's and FR's. Just ugly for Kansas City. Grossman wont take any heat due to the win, even though he might not have a great game.
San Diego at New England
San Diego's Last Game: 14-3 Win Over Chicago
New England's Last Game: 38-14 Win Over New York Jets
My Prediction: New England: 24 San Diego: 21
A slug fest. Hard hitting just like the Bears/Chargers game, but some points being put up. Tom Brady and Moss wont be as deadly as they were vs the Jets. I'd like to think this could be a back and forth game. LT makes a big TD run, and then the Pats come right back with a Brady to Watson TD, for example. I think the ultimate reason why the Chargers lose, is because I think Antonio Gates gets shut down. The Pats will have seen how well he did vs the Bears. LT should bounce back and approach the 100 YD mark, but the lack of a passing game will doom the Chargers. In the closing minutes, the Pats will put through a long FG as the clock ticks down to :30. And then the Chargers aren't able to do anything. This will take the cake for the game of the week.
Washington at Philadelphia
Washington's Last Game: 16-13 Win Over Miami
Philadelphia's Last Game: 16-13 Loss To Green Bay
My Prediction: Philadelphia: 24 Washington: 17
I dont see the Iggles being tied down again. Washington is a solid defensive team, just ask Big Ben68. I just dont think the Skins offense will do enough. Portis should be the main weapon for the Skins. And so for the Eagles, Brian Westbrook will do the honors for the main weapon. It's a running focused game that will feature a few big time play action pass TD's. Honestly, that's where I think the Eagles will prevail. I see it being locked up at 17 with about 5 minutes left until McNabb hits one of his WR's on play action. I dont think the Eagles will make the same ST's mistakes again.
GAME OF THE WEEK: SAN DIEGO AT NEW ENGLAND
GAME TO WATCH OTHER THAN SD AT NE: WASHINGTON AT PHILADELPHIA

You mentioned Pennington will be on the sidelines watching his defense get beat up by Baltimore. He'll be doing that, but he'll be in sweats. He's hurt, and McNair probably will miss the game too. McNair took himself out of a close game in the fourth quarter. You know he wouldn't do that unless he was near death, or blinded by the pain.
Reports are saying Ray Ray has a torn triceps muscle. He played last night - very well - but that's going to be extremely difficult to continue. Without these players in the lineup, the complexion of that game changes completely.

Not to nit-pick Mac but about your Colt's Titans prediction.
You said Indy won both contests last year which is wrong.
Indy lost at Tennessee in week 13 by the score of 20-17.
This may be a trap game this week so be careful all gamblers.

No Harry, please nit-pick. I just misread when I was going through the Colt's 2006 schedule. And Cooz, the Pennington thing is news to me. I watched SC talk about all the injuries around the league and they didnt mention Chad.

the jets are going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, against a sick defense (ray or not). it's going to be ugly especially considering the ravens game last night and how they got hosed badly by the refs.

I think you're right on the Bills game, but not for your reasons. The Bills have been plagued by injuries, and they were abound on Sunday. Lost our starting FS, our backup LB who was in place of our injured starter, our #2 corner, and Kevin Everett.

I like your picks but I think San Diego will beat New England. I live in Boston and I hope this happens because Patriot fans are terrible to be around. Brady isn't going to have 10 seconds to stand in the pocket like he did against the Jets. The Chargers run defense is punishing and the pass rush will pressure Brady. LT will get it going and all the New England fans will be crying and making excuses Monday morning. I cant wait.

I agree, Pittsburgh's Parker will steamroll Bills this week, Ben less so.
I think Carolina-Houston game will be very close, Schaub protects ball.
No way Packers blow out anyone this year on the road, no matter starter.
If Quinn starts, Browns will keep game within 14-17 points.
Seattle is better than Arizona on both sides of the ball, Seattle wins.
I see Eagles-Skins as closer to 27-13 Eagles.
Most dominant win: Pittsburgh over Buffalo(dom gam req good opponent)
Upset of the week: Houston over Carolina(last min or overtime win)
