I know that the Patriots would have been good without these taping stunts, but truthfully, it puts a dark mark on all their recent accomplishments. I know, I know, it doesn't make a big difference, but still...it is just like the Shawne Merriman steroid allegations. It didn't make a big difference in his play, but he will always have a cloud over his head.
And so will the New England Patriots, especially Bill Belichick.
I hope the Chargers bring "anti-spyware" to the game. That is funny to me.
Football news...
- Great news: Bills' Kevin Everett is projected to regain his walking ability in the future. He was able to move his arms and lower extremities, which is great news for the NFL and its fans.
- Wow. Did anyone see JaMarcus Russell's contract? 31 million guaranteed? Wow. Amazing. If it's one thing I don't like, it's athletes' pay. Especially those of rookies. I mean, what has Russell done to warrant such a contract? What if he becomes the next Ryan Leaf? This is why the Raiders are the Raiders...
- Saw yesterday's game between the Cardinals and 49ers. Matt Leinart looked like a good NFL QB, but Alex Smith seems to have taken a step forward from last year. He made good decisions with his arm and his feet. That play involving Arnaz Battle reminded me of the Holy Roller against the Raiders.
Other news...
- To baseball: Padres are winning 9-3 against the Dodgers in the Top of the 9th inning. Arizona is losing 2-1 against the Giants in the 9th inning, but I'm still scared. I mean, it's the Giants. Comon.
- Oh my goodness I just saw the kick by Roberto Carlos on youtube. Both of them. One on a free kick, and the other when the ball was bouncing out of bounds and while the ball was in the air bouncing away, RC kicked the ball with a counterclockwise spin, although the ball was supposed to go clockwise. He made the goal. What a stud.
- Okay, never mind, Arizona lost, and assuming the Padres win, it'll be a 2 game gap.
If anyone cares, I'll reveal something about me every post from now on...

I'm pretty sure Chuck Norris could round house kick heart disease off of the map if he really wanted to.
As far as the Patriots go, none of that was going to help them in the game yesterday. It would have helped when they played again, but not yesterday. My question would be that if Mangini coached there, wouldn't he have known about this stuff had they been doing it before? And, on an interesting side note, I was listening to ESPN radio yesterday when somebody (Mark Schlereth, I believe) was talking about speaking with Rex Ryan (the Ravens defensive coordinator) in his office when he noticed four sets of color coded play sets and asked what they were. Ryan said that they were getting ready for the Colts and that they KNEW that they were stealing signals. So they changed the hand signals and calls depending on what color sheet they are using that quarter. Nothing formal ever came of it, I just thought that it was kind of relevant considering the story.
