I'm sure that by now a lot of people have heard about the fan in Oklahoma who was nearly castrated for wearing a Texas Longhorns T-shirt.

Question: What has this world come to?

It's a game for God's sake. The man has a right to walk into a bar and wear the colors of an opposing team its called freedom of speech people. The patron or patrons who attacked him (figuratively) robbed him of that right. Yes I understand its college football and the Sooners and the Longhorns are bitter rivals but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD to intentionally and meliciously hurt someone based simply on the fact that they happen to cheer for the opposing team is just plain stupid and wrong.

I can (to a point) relate to what this man went through (minus the physical harm although it almost got real physical) I live in the Philadelphia area and I am a huge Denver Broncos fan and about 12 years ago when the Broncos came to Vet's stadium (yes it was that long ago and no I'm not that old) I came to the stadium with my dad and I was wearing a Denver Broncos coat. I always knew that Philly fans were rowdy (regardless of sport) so I just tried to keep a low profile in the stands and enjoy the game like everyone else. I endured some heckling for wearing a Broncos coat and then it got to a point where I had to try to save my coat because some drunken idiot (I think he was drunk I couldn't tell) tried to rip my coat off.

We're human beings here people not barbarians the fact of the matter is this: regardless of who we cheer for let's treat opposing fans with the respect dignity and decency that we would want for ourselves. Seeing as we are (supposedly) civilized people we should act that way even when it comes to sports especially when it comes to sports because its just a game.
