Now we get to the part where I give my observations on the later games of week 1
Detroit 36 Oakland 21
Well the Raiders opened up the Lane Kiffin Era with the same futility that they closed the second Art Shell Era, and people wonder why JaMarcus Russell held out it sure as hell wasn't for the money
Seattle 20 Tampa Bay 6
It seems to me that ol' Chucky's magic is wearing off the way that the Bucs played. No proven leader of the defensive line few decent or good receivers and what is with Garcia? The man's a good QB but he's on a mediocre team. With the way that they played I would be very surprised if the Bucs made the postseason this year.
San Diego 14 Chicago 3
Will the real Rex Grossman please stand up?
The way the Bears played in this game leads me all the more to believe that their trip to the Super Bowl was in fact a fluke. They just had no answers for Tomlinson, Rivers, (who by the way played no better than Grossman) and the rest of the Chargers. This game overall had to be the snoozer of the week considering that outside of Tomlinson there really wasn't much offense on either side, but props to San Diego for pulling out such an ugly win.
Dallas 45 NY Giants 35
Does anyone want the Giants head coaching job? Anyone? Any takers out there?
I think that Coughlin has finally cracked under the pressure. Between his "star" QB's injury, recent criticisms from his former star running back, and the overall collapse of this ballclub it's only a matter of time before he's out on his butt looking for a job. The Giants have the potential to be a good team but with all their shortcomings (and they have many) in order for them to be a good team they need a coach plain and simple.
Cincinnati 27 Baltimore 20
This was probably one of the more exciting games of the week considering the score was as high as it was. Both teams looked pretty good throughout the game the only thing with the game is that both teams showed how turnover prone both teams really are. But again I will reiterate it was a good game.
San Francisco 20 Arizona 17
This game wasn't bad either considering that it was being played by two teams that have been pretty bad in recent years. Frank Gore was really good and Alex Smith and Matt Leinart continue to show their maturity as NFL QB's. But once again it still looks pretty bleak for the Cards and I'm predicting another losing season for this habitually bad team.
