According to a Yahoo! sports article, Kevin Everett has some movement in his arms and legs. The Bills' doctor calls this a minor miracle. Science seems to have made some incredible progress in treating these sorts of injuries.
This injury made me think back to the big hits article earlier this summer. The NFL survives on big hits and "Jacked Up". A few fans have occasionally cheered a player's injury during a game; more common is the fan who says "I hope player X gets injured so he doesn't beat us today". Is there anyway to curb the hard-hitting that leads to cerebrospinal injuries? Are we as fans responsible? I am probably too naive, and obviously have never played football, but just wanted to know what other people think.

Fans being responsible is a bizarre question to ask to say the very least. I dont think players hit hard to please fans, they do it to send a message to opponents, plus they all love to see themselves on game film with their colleagues gathered round to do a bunch of back slapping. Injuries are part of sports, Everett's injury by everyone's account was extremely rare and has nothing to do with "Jacked up" or any cause for curbing hard-hitting. HH is what football is all about.

Its the nature of the game. Its a shame what happened to Kevin Everett, and its great that there was some movement. And no defensive player in the NFL is thinking I gotta hit this running back as hard as I can because the guy in secion A doesnt like him.
