Oh, the quandry in Columbus! Who to support in the pillow fight about to take place in Ann Arbor? To root for Notre Dame this weekend or rival Michigan?
You'll find those who will argue either side of that argument.
But even in Columbus, Ohio--the heart of Buckeye country--you will have a hard time finding someone, anyone who will question Lloyd Carr's integrity.
His values are those of a bygone era, and he deserves praise for that.
Unfortunately for Wolverines fans, his defensive scheme seems caught in the same Time Warp.
Carr's team is 0-2 this year, due in large part to his team's inability to stop mobile quarterbacks running the spread offense.
And even before Appalachian State's Armanti Edwards and Oregon's Dennis Dixon exploited this weakness, former OSU quarterback Troy Smith was leaving his skid marks on the Michigan defense.
So is the failure to adjust a sign of Carr's stubbornness? Or is it just as Carr himself explained, "Every team in the country has had problems with scrambling quarterbacks, and, certainly, we're no exception.''
Either way, online betting services are taking wagers on how soon Carr will be fired, newspapers have discussed the possibility of LSU's Les Miles coming in and taking the reigns of the program, and SackCarr.com has gotten more than its fair share of visitors lately.
Carr is the one scrambling now.
