So it came to pass. That Ferry signed the third oldest player in the league to be a major piece to Cleveland's quest for a championship. Everybody in the basketball world except Ferry knew Shaq at 38 can't possibly survive an 82 game season let alone another 16 wins in the playoffs. The right thing to do was get quicker and younger at the four and five positions as well as get a shooting guard that's taller than 6' 3''.
Orlando exposed Cleveland's needs and as a rational person y'd think Cleveland's management will address that. Instead they got older by adding 38 year old Shaq and 34 year old Antoine Jamison to team with 35 year old Ilgauskus when young Amare Stoudemire was available for the taking. Those unexplainable Isiah-style decisions are the reasons why Lebron in Gotham is a done deal.
If Lebron ever had it in his heart to play his whole career in front of his hometown crowd management has compelled him to leave. I am apt to believe Cleveland's owner just can't afford to keep Lebron that's why he keeps making short term investments that leads to quick playoff exits. That game has gotten old.
Lebron made it clear he'd opt out. That should be enough for Cleveland to know he is a goner because no one opts out to come back in. It's forward ever. NYC is calling... As backstreet boys sing Bye Bye Bye!
