This has been an amazing season ( good and bad) and how in the world the Phillies still find themselves 1 1/2 games behind in the Wild Card ( tied with the Dodgers) is beyond me. I just don't get it, sure the Phillies can hit but the pitching has been inconsistent at best and horrible at worst. Yet here they are going into New York with a chance at the playoffs.
This weekend finds the Phillies playing the Mets, The Dodgers playing Arizona at home and the Padres against the Giants. Gotta think the Padres have the easiest weekend.
I am still saying the Phillies win the Wild Card. I was in a store this morning that I go into everyday. I was talking to the owner and he asked me if I still thought the Phillies were going to make the playoffs. I said yes and he asked why. After I gave him my reasons he said, " so you just feel it then" He was right. The pitching is no way near playoff quality and gives you no faith that it can carry the team to the playoffs. The hitting is really good but it always comes back to the pitching or lack thereof.
I guess I don't have many concrete reasons why the playoffs but I still have that feeling that the Phillies are playoff bound. Will they break my heart or make me look smart ( I need all the help I can get)? Maybe we know more on Monday.
