Yes Bill Belichick and the Patriots cheating is as big as we think it is. Fisrt off it is totally different to tape someone and take all their signals and know what is going on than having someone watch them, like a bench player or a coach. If someone can watch you and take your signals from you that is talent. But using video image to cheat is a huge no no. Roger Goodell did an okay job of punishing them I believe but i believe he could have done a little more. I believe he should have also made them forfiet the game against the Jets. He could have also suspended Belichick for a game. Goodell did suspended Wade Wilson for 4 games for taking HGH . Which i believe he shouldnt have really gotten suspended at all, since he isnt playing on the field and he was taking it for a medical reason. Belichick is also a dumba** for using it on Eric Mangini one of his former coaches. This also makes us wonder how good Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots are. Now i will say they are good but this had to be a big advantage. If he would have suspended Belichick and made them forfiet the game this would have sent an even bigger note to other NFL teams if they were doing this to stop. This brings me to the NFL. Goodell could also add another two games to the suspension if a player test positive for steriods. As of right now if a player test positive for steriods he gets a 4 game suspension which is 25% of the season. In MLB if a player test positive for steriods then he is suspended for 50 games which is 31% of the season. If Goodell would do this he would be sending a message to everyone. While two more games doesnt sound like that much it would put 6 games for suspension and it would be 38% which would be above the MLB. Which the NFL is the most popular sport in America. This would send a message to all the little kids who watch this who idolize players in the NFL not do steriods. Also I would like to point out that everyone thinks that nobody in the NFL has taken steriods or is taking them right now. Hint they are and have. The other day I heard some scientist from the World Anti-Doping Agency may have found a way to detect HGH. When Gene Upshaw heard about the test and if he would be willing to have the NFL players take this test he said no he wouldnt let NFL players take the test and he was against it. Tell me something isnt wrong with that picture. Not trusting the players maybe. While the MLB said they would use it if it was accurate. Anther thing I dont see any MLB players who have tested positive for steriods getting any commercials or endorsments. While Mr.ICHEATANDUSESTERIOSSHAWNMERRIMAN is all over the Nike commercial with Steven Jackson. I dont see Barry Bonds on any commercials and he hasnt even tested positve for steriods, though we do all know he did use them but that is another story. He still hasnt tested positive in a test. He would be a huge endorsment player. The NFL is not as squeaky clean as everyone thinks it is. Now this may not sound like I am a fan of the NFL. Dont get me wrong I love the NFL but there are problems with it and it is not so perfect and some things could be changed. Now i hope that the rest of the season is great and very competitive and has no other contervesial topics.

Just because you are a Patriots fan and are getting tired of hearing about how your coach and team cheated that would get old to. Everyone questioning how good they really are. That would make me mad too.

I hope they do smash the Chargers cause i hate them cause all they do is run their mouths. Also if you would have read the blog i didnt say that Coach B was the only one cheating. So if i need to get a life i guess you should learn how to read.

Old news? Ha. That's a new one. This hasn't even been out a week yet, it's far from "old news".

September 14, 2007  10:25 PM ET

Thank you yankeeslifer* it wasnt just me who thought it wasnt that old.

I think the most incredible thing about this is BeliCHICK claims it was a misinterpretation of the rules. That means only one of two things; whether he and/or the Patriots are too dense to understand the rules....or they cheated on purpose. I would tend to believe the latter of the two. Funny how all the stories about this haven't mentioned any other team in the NFL. Doesn't seem like a very prevalent problem, unless you are playing against the Patriots.

Get a life - Coach B is one of 15 or more coaches filming last week

Larry B | 09/14/07

I find it interesting that you spend the better part of your day on here haranguing everyone about your point of view and how everyone should bow to your sports wisdom. Then somehow you have the audacity to avise anyone else to get a life?
Get proof of ANY other coach who was taping someone else's signs. Otherwise it's all bluster and conjecture. The only team to be busted so far was the Patriots. The only team that anyone has complained about was....the Patriots. Not everyone feels the need to scrape for every competitive edge in order to garner their wins.

nive blog... and larry is a homer... he should have let it go after the second time...

Larry B, Patriots spin doctor is at it again....

Dude, the entire NFL cares about this, and it isn't old news. Your team cheated, and apparently (since your assertion is that everyone is doing it...) were the only ones dumb enough to get caught. The rules are slear, and the Pats clearly broke them.

I'm waiting for Chad Johnson to hand Belichick a videotape highlight reel as a touchdown celebration the next time they play.

Great Blog.

Larry it's OK. We understand..... Now it's time real in the true thoughts.

THAT YOUR TEAM SUCKS!!!!!

Larry B is a moron who is so far up the pats **** he comes out smelling like $hit!Ignore anything he says,if you haven't by now. This is FAR from "OLD" news and will continue to be an issue all year. The pats gave the NFL a real bad name and a lot of NFL fans are disgusted by it.It is far from going away and i for one will not let it rest. The punishment was way to lenient and thought a bigger punishment should have been imposed.Goddell should have taken away the win along with a 4 game suspension of Bellicheat. They also should have looked as far back to there 1st SB win too see if they where doing it then.Bet ya $$$$ they have been all along. The NFL will never be the same again. Thanks Pats for giving the NFL a bad name and showing that your are TRULY CHEATERS!

September 15, 2007  12:59 PM ET

This is just as bad as Vick's felonies, Donaghy's betting/fixing games, HGH. Larry thinks cause the Pats are good they get a free pass. Totally classless and Bellichick just tarnished his and the Pats image for a long time.

September 15, 2007  06:22 PM ET

they should get stripped of championships like they do in soccer

September 16, 2007  10:11 AM ET

very smart points

September 17, 2007  03:59 PM ET

Nice blog, and as much as pats fans want this subject to go away, it will not. the league is still investigating how much more CHEATING the pats have been doing, and if it decides to really bring it to light then watch out 4 suspensions, more fines, and forfeitures. but this is the nfl so dont hold ur breath.
