The shot was a perfect definition of the four year career. With around 45 seconds left in Maryland's final home game of the 2010 season against the fourth ranked Duke Blue Devils, the Terps were up 71-69. Strategy is obvious in this situation - drain the shot clock as fair down as you can and take the best, high-percentage shot you can get. You really want to go up by two possessions, but you don't want to leave a lot of time on the clock for Scheyer and company to fight back with their great shooting offense. When the clock was at .45, the shot clock was at 13, and the ball was in the hand of senior point guard Greivis Vasquez playing his last home game of his college career. He started his drive from way beyond the arch, took Scheyer to the right, and forced the issue down the lane. Scheyer was sliding his feet and with him all the way. Vasquez leans in and fires up a wild shot without stopping his momentum. The ball clanged on the rim a few times before playing its nylon song as Vasquez nearly fell onto his own bench. Maryland beat Duke 79-72.
