The San Francisco 49ers have signed former over all #1 David Carr to apparently be the backup to Alex Smith (another underachieving over all #1). I fail to see how this is an improvement over what they had last year. Yes, all the naysayers hate Sean Hill & his supposed "noodle arm". But guess what? When he was the starter, he won games & isn't that the idea?
David Carr was a star at a small school-Fresno State. Then he was drafted by an expansion team, the Houston Texans & showed that he wasn't an NFL quality QB. So the last few years he has been a backup for various teams. I didn't even know he was with the Giants. Why would I. He is going to be a career backup from now on. The Niners need a quality experienced backup just in case Smith never takes the next step. However I don't agree with Patrick Willis that the team should go after dog killer Michael Vick. Sorry, but I hope my team has more class than that. Willis got a lot of publicity over his rants on Twitter over Carr being in Santa Clara saying the team had 3 QB's better than Carr. I guess he has to apologize to the new clipboard holder.
Still, why didn't this team look at Donovan McNabb instead? I just don't understand our underacheiving GM. There had better be some out of the world picks in the draft, because this team will not be making a splash in free agency.
