Mac is Drowning Some Riot
|

Friday night, there was a mini "Boston Massacre". The Sox were in full control of the game going into the 8th inning with a 7-2 lead. Then, the Bronx Bombers awoke from their slumber and made Okajima and Papelbon look like Kevin Brown. I give a lot of credit to the Yanks. They just straight up hammered the Boston relievers on Friday night.

If you read my last blog from the MLB Fan Club, you might remember how irrate I was. And, you might remember how I had ranted about how Saturday was ALL about todays game. Josh Beckett vs Chien-Ming Wang. A MUST win for the Red Sox.

Well...

Boston Red Sox-10

New York Yankees-1

Final

BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BOO-YAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, let me take it down a notch. Josh Beckett was really on his game today. After giving up a HR in the 1st to Yankee Captain Derek Jeter, he went on cruise control.

Josh Beckett's Stat Line: (9/15/07)

7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 K's, 2 BB's, 108 Pitches.

Overall, a damn good performance. Now, as I continually pointed out during the course of the game to my buddy Coletrain, Wang was off of his game today. His stuff was missing the zone a lot(Mostly up in the zone), and he only had 3 ground ball outs the last time I was counting. (Thanks Tim McCarver)

Chien-Ming Wang's State Line: (9/15/07)

5.2 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 K's, 3 BB's, 97 Pitches.

Wang was fortunate many times to escape some innings. At one point, he had the bases loaded and then Varitek popped out. It wasn't until the 5th that the Sox pushed 1 across, the 1st run since the 1st inning. Then, the 6th came around and Wang was pulled. After that, you can figure out that the Sox pwned the Yankee bullpen. The only negative aspect of today's game was of course, Kevin Youkilis getting hit on his right wrist. He yelled out in agony when hit, pretty much making it obvious the ball hit bone. It was later said during the game that it was inflamation or something, not to severe. I still wouldn't expect Youkilis to lace em' up Sunday.

Todays game was NOT nearly as meaningful as Friday's. Friday's was a game that the Red Sox let slip away. With today's win, they SHOULD have been pushing their lead up to 7.5 games. But, its just back to where it was before Friday night's game. Sundays game is the MOST important game. Schilling vs Clemens. The battle of the Depends spokesman. Which pitcher will have to go first? Schilling has a 2.4 ERA in his last 5 starts, and in all of those games has pitched at least 6 full innings. So, I got faith. (Even though he won 2 of those games)Clemens comes in with a 3.0 ERA in his last 5 starts, and only pitched in at least 6 innings in 2 of those games. Eh, advantage Sox. It's in Fenway, and I think the Red Sox have a solid shot at taking a 2nd game. (WHICH SHOULD BE A 3RD!!!)

But, who know's? For all I know, the Yankees might bust out their spoiling caps and blow the Sox into the Boston Harbor. But, I doubt it.

And, my oh my! Jacoby Ellsbury is the man! That kid is on a 13 game hitting streak since being called up from the minors. Uh, time to kick Crisp out of the outfield and put this young gun out there. This kid could do WONDERS for the Sox in the playoffs.
