This one even turned into an upset! Last week's "Blowout Turned Into a Good Game" blog was about Louisville in their high-scoring 2nd game against Middle Tennessee. This week it's Louisville again, going up against Kentucky.
#9 Louisville going into Kentucky to face the unranked, 2-0 Wildcats who only beat Eastern Kentucky and Kent State. Louisville has this already, right? Well the way this season has been going, you can never tell.
Kentucky started off leading after one, then going into half down by 2. So far their fans aren't leaving. But the Cards are going to come out of halftime with a big speech by their coach and blow the Wildcats out of the water, right? Not so fast. Each team scored a TD and Louisville was still hanging on to a 2-point lead heading into the final period. Well the Cats scored almost right away and the fans started to believe. Then with less than two minutes left, Louisville got back on top with a touchdown. Trying to make it a 3-point game, though, they missed the 2 point conversion.
Then the drive started. Kentucky down 34-33 with under 2 minutes left. Well, to make a long story short, Kentucky started to make their way down the field. And then something happened to Louisville's defense because a Wildcat was wide open and scored a 50+ yard touchdown pass. For some strange reason, they only kicked the PAT and went up 40-34, giving Louisville one more chance to win.
Less than 30 ticks on the clock and Louisville does a few plays and goes up the field to around midfield. They have one last shot to throw for the touchdown. The pass is up and about 5 blue jerseys tip the ball or are in range of it. It tips back and a Louisville man caught it! Too bad all those bue jerseys were there to tackle him short.
What an upset. But now you have to think, did Louisville deserve to be ranked that high? In their last two games they gave up at least 40 points a game.
The funny thing is, this game was on ESPN Classic.
