Weis is a great coach ... just look at the drop off the Pats have had since he left !
In all seriousness when will AD's and those that interview and hire college coachs realize that head coaching in the NFL or coordinating and coaching at a major college program are totally different jobs altogether and very few if anyone have had succes at both.
With college coaching your asked to be a father figure, a mentor, a fundraiser raiser, and probably most importantly a recruiter. Where as coaching in the NFL is a management position in charge of men and millionaires playing the game as a business. Somehow i couldnt see Belicheck or Shanahan (the mad scientists of the NFL) in a living room selling there program to a family or at a fundraiser trying to sell box seats for the homecoming game.
Weis is a great O coordinator playing a game of chess with his counter part on the other side line but has no business running and coaching one of the premier college positions in football without any head coaching experience at any level on his resume.

Weiss is overrated. Now that he had a bad season last year and ND sucks this year, should he get the boot like Ty Willingham?...Of course not, because the jerks in the school offices gave him that huge contract.

Well, Weis is not over-rated and he improved the recruiting class from 2006 thorugh 2008. He had 2006 and 2007 recruiting class in the Top 10 and the 2008 class are the #1 Recruting. If you look at Ty's 2003-2005 recruiting class they were no where near Weis. In addition, to the talents Ty recruited Quinn, etc. He could not put the talents together while Weis came in and put these talent together and won many games.
Ty almost destroyed the Notre Dame Football program by not recruting and his coaching. Ty is a cancer to any football program because he cannot recruit and will destroy any school football program.
Weis served as tight ends coach (1993-94), developing Ben Coates into a Pro Bowl selection in 1994. The next year Weis served as running backs coach (1995), where he lobbied to draft RB Curtis Martin and promptly developed the rookie sensation, coaching Martin to the 1995 Pro Bowl and a 1,400 yard rushing season. Martin was also named Rookie of the Year. In 1996, Weis served as receivers coach, where he continued his trend of successful development of players, developing WR Terry Glenn into a 1,100 yard receiver as a rookie.
Weis served his first year as wide receivers coach ('97), where he developed Keyshawn Johnson. Under Weis' coaching, Johnson became a back-to-back Pro-Bowler in 1998 and 1999.
the Patriots won three Super Bowls (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX). As offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Weis has been credited for helping develop Tom Brady. Tom Brady was elected to the 2001 Pro Bowl, and named Super Bowl MVP of Super Bowl's XXXVI and XXXVIII.
Goo Notre Dame!!!!
