HEAD COACH BOB STOOPS
On Utah State:
"I am just really pleased offensively with the balance of running and throwing the football. Our running backs were amazing; we have an outstanding offensive line. One of our players, Brandon Walker, who's probably one of the most consistent in three games, did an outstanding job. I think he played really, really well.
 
"Defensively, I continued to be pleased with our overall discipline, and that was a team with motion and shifting formations trying to confuse you on the gap responsibility on zone-read option. I thought we were really sound and tackled well, and played physical.
 
"You know all week they've talked about a let-down so I'm just pleased by the way our players got themselves prepared to play and they've taken pride in how they've played. Even though we got a big lead, and the second- and third-teamers that were in there, they continued to play well."
 
Biggest Challenge against Tulsa's offense:
"Well, everyone asked me the same thing for North Texas. They are one of those spread open teams. There are some similarities, some differences. This team has their differences and their personalities and the little things that they like and we've got to come familiar with them this week and be ready to go back there."
 
On Paul Smith as Quarterback:
"I think he is one of the toughest guys that we've played in the last few years and I said that after our game two years ago that that's the toughest performance I've seen out of anyone. I've never seen a guy get knocked down so much without flags and continue to compete well. He did a great job, and I think he's a heck of a competitor."
 
Thoughts on a Friday night game:
"I mean here is in-state school that has the opportunity for that kind of exposure, national exposure. You have a ton of Oklahoma players playing on both sides in this game. But there are positives there. In the end, it is good for the state. I like the proximity. Typically the more locally a game, the more attraction. In the end, expense-wise it's good for both sides."
 
On Tulsa's 3-man defense:
"You have to work against it; it's not something you see every week. Offensively and defensively, each team you play has a little different personality or a little different twist in what they like to exercise. We just have to get comfortable with it. Yet I feel good with the experience of our line and our tight ends."
 
Correlation of early success and scrimmages:
"It's hard to have a reason, but I think maturity and experience are showing up. I think it did sharpen us because we are so competitive all spring and into the summer with our early camp. We are going good-against-good in everything we do. We do a lot work against each other to try and make each other better."
 
On Quarterbacks:
"I think Coach Heupel has done an amazing job with these guys. I think it begins with developing, and Josh can understand what they are seeing and going through. I think competition is going to make everyone better."
 
On Sam Bradford at his first away start:
"In the end, he'll just get out there and play. When you get out there, you just become engrossed in what you are playing that you don't pay attention to the rest. It just gets down to being able to communicate and focus on what's between the lines. I am pleased to see his accuracy.  I wouldn't use the word surprised because then I'm not giving him credit. I've seen it in practice and last year in scout teams. He's continuing to develop; he throws the ball in anticipation."
 
On the Running Backs:
"The tailbacks are a really good group. They all have a different style in how they run, but we really don't care who's in when we call plays. That makes a really good offense, in that we can rotate them.  It's great as a coach to see them doing well and pulling for one another.
 
"Allen is going quicker vertical than anyone. Demarco is such a slasher and has such speed. Chris is the most underrated but he may be the most efficient. He is just fantastic."
 
On Juaquin Iglesias:
"He has been consistent; his hands have been great. He's made some of those first-downs out on the boundaries. He's playing well; for whatever reason, he seems to be quicker this year, probably because of maturity. He's stepping up and that's going to be a big factor for us."
 
On Malcolm Kelly:
"He's a great player. He's as good a receiver as anyone we've had around here. His hands are better than many I've ever seen. He's as good as there is in the country."
 
On Jacob Guiterrez:
"He's a model student-athlete. He's got a great attitude; the players chose him as a captain.  Both the older and younger students look up to him. He wants to contribute in any way that he can. What he does off the field is just genuine. He has a heart of gold and matured beyond his years. I like that he displays that to our younger guys."

SENIOR TIGHT END JOE JON FINLEY
On how quarterback Sam Bradford has developed:
"He studies the tapes hard, he works hard and he does all the little things. I also think the offensive line as a whole has really helped out. The offense has done great of protecting him and giving him more time to make decisions. That really helps a young quarterback."

On the offensive line:
"We have such a talented team. But it all starts up front and the O-line has done a great job of opening gaps and keeping Sam protected."

On going on the road for the first time:
"It is an in-state rivalry and they are a good program. I am sure they are going to come out ready to play. We are preparing. From what we hear it gets loud in there. It is a new challenge and we always welcome new challenges."

On Tulsa's defense:
"It is different than anything we have seen yet. They don't let you get on the edges. They will bring a strong defense."

On his feelings about playing on Friday night:
"It doesn't matter to me. Its football, I will go play anytime. I would go play right now if you wanted to."

On how the team is staying focused:
"It's not about the other teams to us. It is about leaving our own legacy. It is about the 2007 Sooners."

SOPHOMORE LINEBACKER RYAN REYNOLDS
On the upcoming game with Tulsa:
"They are a great team. They do a lot of things well. It is an in-state rivalry and they are a good

program. They will be ready to play. We just have to be mentally prepared. I think we are up for the challenge. "

On Tulsa's quarterback Paul Smith:
"He is a great quarterback. Coach V (Brent Venables) said that talent wise he is probably one of the best we will see all year. He is able to scramble and still hit it right on the money."

On Tulsa's speed:
"I think they are the fastest we will have seen yet this year. They have a lot of really skilled guys. They have a couple running backs that are really talented."

On the connection between him, Curtis Lofton and Lewis Baker:
"I think we just all have the same mindset. We all watch the extra film together and work on the little things together."

On his knee:
"It isn't a 100 percent better yet, but every week it feels better and I am feeling more comfortable. The brace is just a constant reminder that I did something to it. I think when that is gone it may help."

On playing at Tulsa on Friday night:
"It's going to be a big crowd with both teams in state. Both sets of fans are going to be really loud, so I'm sure there's going to be a big clash of fans. I think it's going to be a great environment to play in. Knowing that everyone is going to be in their hotel rooms on Friday night watching us play makes you get up a little more just knowing that those people who have games on Saturday are watching that one game on Friday."

On being a part of the offense:
"It's competitive and just making everybody better. Everyday, everybody gives constructive criticism among each other, and everybody puts their own two cents in. We all have a different style from one another and we are trying to help each other get better everyday."

R-FRESHMAN DEFENSIVE BACK DOMINIQUE FRANKS
On the team's competitiveness:
"There is a lot. You just have to come in everyday to practice and try to prove yourself. You can't ever take a day off of practice. We're a great team and it's going to be a really good game on Friday night. We're just going to come ready to play."

On how he feels about his performance:
"I just do whatever it takes to help the team with a play. Whether it's one play or if I play for the whole game. I'll do whatever it takes and I can't be selfish if I don't get to play."

On the first away game in Tulsa:
"It's not really too far away from here so I don't really see it as a real, true away game. We'll have a lot of fans there so we'll just see. It's very different. Usually on Sundays we just come in and watch film, but this Sunday we came in and had practice. That was pretty much the only big difference, and everything else just moved up a day. It's not really that big of a deal."

On OU's defense:
"The coaches tell us to play with great technique every play. We have to come in and tackle and do our job. In the secondary you have to play pretty much perfect on every play because we're the last resort playing with OU."
