I was hoping that some rich guy would get a hold of this ball and destroy it. If I was rich and given the opportunity to get my hands on it, I would have had it incinerated so that there was no way it could get to Cooperstown. However, this guy takes a little bit better road in leaving up to the fans.
Personally, I voted for space just because there is less chance of the ball ever getting to Cooperstown (unless aliens do not want our garbage as well), but I would be ok with the asterisk being branded on.....I guess.
