First off let me say thank God for football! I was at Winners Sports Bar in Tampa FL on Sunday and looking around all you could see is groups of fans wearing their teams jerseys, rooting for their teams. I'm a huge Vikings fan, but that is a whole other blog.
I was on S.I. this afternoon and I was struck dumb with McNabb's quote of "people didn't want us to play this position." and "Oh, he could have made this throw here. We would have scored more points if he would have done this." ARE YOU SERIOUS! You know I have grown up in an age where African American athletes have used these type of sayings to try to deflect comments about their poor performance. Oh, and Donavon before you say that this is coming from "The Man" I am a fellow African American, just not one that falls back on my race as an excuse for my performance. Do you forget that African American athletes jerseys dominate all sales in every sport? Are you forgetting that Micheal Vick had the love of the country before he decided that it was ok to kill dogs even though he couldn't make half the throws that you make. Why didn't he cop the same pitiful excuse that you are trying to make to fans. Do you forget that millions of kids nationwide worship you? And this is what you tell those kids. Come on man, be the role model that you are supposed to be. Is racism still alive? Yes, you would be dumb to admit that its not. Do I believe that you are the target of racism because you are having a bad year? No, you're just having a bad year. People are gonna talk about you because you are a superstar. If Peyton Manning was having the year you are having believe me it would be A LOT bigger news than you. Get out of yourself and go play the game. Hit the film room a little more, put down the tissues and play the game. Good luck next week and look out for the white guy in the box office stopping you from playing a good game. He may be coming in on a weakside blitz.
Well those are my thoughts on someone who probably would be a lot better off if he still had T.O. and Dante Stallworth. Maybe crying for a better receiving corps would be a better idea.
