Four days before Rice, and already the hits are coming against the Longhorns. RS-Fr. James Henry is arrested on two felony counts for obstruction and tampering with evidence, stemming from a July incident that ended with two other Longhorn players being charged with aggravated robbery.
UT President, William Powers Jr., has applauded Coach Mack Brown for, "...taking swift action in disciplining a member of his football team,". Look, I have been a Longhorn fan all of my life, and will continue to be through thick and thin, however, Mack Brown does not deserve to be applauded in any way, shape or form, for recruiting kids who have MAJOR character issues. There is no way I can be convinced that signs are not present during the recruiting process of how these young men will act. People do not just wake up one day and say, "hmm, I think I will go and break into someone's residence and rob them today." That is just not the way it works.
As for James Henry, what an arrogant, stupid, jerk he is, to actually go back to the victim's residence and assault them for notifying police. I hope for a quick conviction, but Mack should kick him off the team now. It is hard to believe that a law enforcement agency would just make up all of these wild accusations that would include: written witness statements by the victims, as well as audiotape of the "accused" making statements about assaulting the original complainants.
Mack Brown needs to wake up and start screening his recruits a little more carefully before Texas becomes the new Miami, who incidentally, is attempting to alter their image.
