Only two NFL teams scored under 200 points last season.  The Oakland Raiders (197) probably would have eclipsed 200 if they had benched Jamarcus Russell earlier in the season.  Lagging far behind the Raiders were the St. Louis Rams, with a mere 175 points on the season.  That's a paltry number... especially considering the team had a Pro Bowl running back (Steven Jackson) who rushed for 1416 yards on the year.

Quarterback play was horrible.  Marc Bulger continued to be a shell-shocked shadow of a once good quarterback.  With only five touchdown passes and a lowly 56.7% completion ratio in nine games, it should be clear to everyone that #10 has no business being on the Rams roster in 2010.

Kyle Boller was even worse than Bulger.  His completion percentage was even lower (55.7%), and he managed to throw twice as many INTs (6) than TDs(3).

So the Rams ended up turning the reins over to Keith Null (who?) by the end of the season.  Some Rams fans-- the few that were left-- saw Null as the quarterback of the future.  But nothing about his 3 TD - 9 INT output leads me to believe Null will ever be anything more than a third-stringer.  Heck, I could probably make a better argument for kicker Josh Brown (who threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Fells on a fake field goal against the Lions) being the Rams' QB of the future.

I know a lot of Rams fans think Ndamukong Suh is the smart pick, the safe pick... that defense wins championships.  But you know what?  The Rams scored 13 or fewer points in ELEVEN of their sixteen games last season.  No defense in the league allowed fewer than 14.75 points per game last year.  So even if the Rams upgraded their defense and had the top defense in the NFL, they would still be looking at a losing record if their offense continued to be so inept.  Therefore I submit that Ndamukong Suh is not the smart pick for the Rams.  They must pick a quarterback to turn their offense around.

Sam Bradford is the guy the Rams need to pick on Draft Day.
