If there is anything that Bill Belichick is thinking right now, it's probably something like what we heard from that crazy Irish guy in Braveheart. "Your f____d" Belichick has already been fined $500K by Commisioner Goodell. Now, Goodell want's him to turn over any other notes or tapes from past video recordings similar to what he's already been punished for. In other words, we could be soon finding out if Bill has been sending his minions into the stands to tape defensive signals in the past. (Rams, Eagles, and Panthers fans start to twitch) "Spy-Gate" is already a mess, and by the way it looks now it could become worse than the Tim Donaghy case in the NBA. Of course, Belichick could easily find a way to "misplace" some of his past evidence.
But, there is good news for Belichick. He won't be getting the "Dumbass of the Week Award". That honor my friends will be going to former Buffalo Bills running back, Naked Gun star, and acquited murderer OJ Simpson. OJ was arrested on September 16th and is being held without bail. He faces seven felony counts, and one more charge to make eight. The charge of 1st degree kidnapping with the use of a deadly weapon is the one charge that carries the possibility of life in prison. Johnny Cochran isn't going be here to help him out of this one. There won't be any eloquent speeches, and clever displays. I think the glove fits this time. 13 years after OJ should have been in prison getting acquainted with Bubba, the prison's "Back Door Man", he might just be on the verge of incarceration. This story just makes me laugh, about as much as I did when Brick stabbed a guy with a trident.
And for now, we move into a positive story. Kevin Everett recently suffered a life threatening spinal cord injury as we all know. Most of us saw the hit, and I'd bet some of us had the image stuck in our heads. If you've been paying attention to the news, we've been getting news regarding Everett every few days. Now, Everett is showing some movement in both hands and greater strength in his leg muscles. This is GREAT news. The injury he received was seen initially as something that would either cripple him for life or kill him. I'm no fan of the Buffalo Bills, but I am a fan of Kevin Everett. I remember that blog from FanNation user Steelercooz about how Everett had thought first about his wife and mother before himself. He didn't want them to worry. That showed character. That showed that Kevin Everett is a real man. So, we can of course continue our thoughts and prayers for Kevin.
Ok, now that I have you crying tears of joy as if you just got finished watching "Terms of Endearment", or if your a guy "Saving Private Ryan", lets move on to something funny. As if it isn't already known, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish SUCK. Yes, I said it. So should you. It would be accepted as being honest. At 0-3 after losing 38-0 to Michigan, Notre Dame's schedule doesn't exactly get any easier. Well, with the way they are playing, every game will be tough. Even that daunting Navy game. They STILL have teams like UCLA, USC, BC, and Duke left on their schedule. Wait, Duke? Yes, they probably can't even beat the Dukies. This team is about as bad as the 76' Bucs. Hell, Prairie View might be able to put them through a nail biter. Jimmy Clausen doesn't have any run support, and he doesn't have an offensive line that seems to know how to block. The run game finished with -6 Yards vs Michigan, and the Irish are yet to score an offensive touchdown. Charlie Weiss needs to leave that university before they run him out with pitchforks. He and Lloyd Carr might be in the broadcasting booths next season.
Has anybody wondered what happened to the Seattle Mariners? Right now the Mariners sit at 79-70. They are 8.5 games back of the Angels, and they are 6.5 back of the Yankees in the AL Wild Card Standings. What happened I say?! Remember that 9 game losing streak from August 25th-September 2nd? Well since the 2nd, the Mariners are 6-8 and have been slipping further down the totum pole. The Yankees have been beating Boston in New York and in Boston, and the Mariners have been getting pwned by everybody. Since the 25th of August, the Mariners lost 5 series and split 2. They are in a series with Oakland right now, and have LAA, CLE, and TEX to finish off the season. Like I've said before and some other FanNation users, this team didn't ever have the starting pitching to compete. Right now the Mariners are 10th in ERA, 13th in BAA, 12th in OPS, 11th in WHIP, and 12th in QS. They just never had the rotation that would last. It doesn't matter if you've got Ichiro Suzuki or Godzilla in the batting lineup.
And now to some more NFL news to round off this marvelous blog, wha happen to dem Saints? People like to yell and scream, "Who Dat Sey Dey Gonna Beat Dem Saints?" Well, I got an answer. EVERYBODY. What is wrong with this bunch of nancy's? They were 10-6 in 2006 and had the NFL's #1 offense. Now, they can't even beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After getting trounced by Indy, I figured this team could at least get back on track vs a 06' non-playoff team. Well, they instead mimiced the Jets/Pats Week 1 score by losing 38-14 to the Bucs. Jeff Garcia went 10 for 16 and torched the Saints secondary for 243 Yards and 2 TD's. Joey Galloway did his best Marvin Harrison impression and racked up 4 Receptions, 135 Yards, and 2 TD's. The Saints FINALLY scored an offensive touchdown. They actually got two! What an achievement. Maybe now they can figure out how to do it again when they host the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football. It's gonna be in the Super Dome, and those drunk cajuns will be wanting a show. You have to keep them entertained. Once they come off of Bourbon and all its excitement, you don't want anybody passing out in the stands due to boredom. So since the Saints will certainly be thinking of their loyal fans, I think they will get off the schnide.
My Prediction: New Orleans Saints-23 Tennessee Titans-20
