Baseball Prospectus has the Phillies chances at 29% of making the playoffs after the Phillies lost and both the Mets and Padres won to make the gap 2 1/2 games. Not only is it about winning but when you lose is a consideration. If either the Mets or Padres lost last night then the gap is obviously smaller.
The Phils are in Washington tonight to start a 4 game series. The Padres have a 3:30 game today against the Pirates and the Mets are in Florida ( note to D. Willis, it might be a good time to throw a good game tonight).
The Phillies catch a small break with the remaining schedule. They play 7 against the Nationals and 3 with the Braves. The Mets have 7 against the Marlins, 3 with the Nationals and 1 with the Cardinals. The Padres have a tougher schedule. 1 with the Pirates, 3 against the Rockies, 3 against the Giants and they end the season in Milwaukee for a 4 game series. 7 of the games with teams with a winning record. The Phillies on the other hand have only 3 games left with a team with a winning record. The Mets have none.
