"I'd like to thank God for blessing me with the abilities that have brought me this far."  "I'd like to thank God for providing us the opportunity to win this championship."  How many times have we heard athletes spout of these phrases with no real meaning seemingly behind them.  Then something terrible happened two weeks ago and we got the chance to see athletes backing up the words that they are always saying at award shows.  Kevin Everett was making a routine takle and he went limp, fell face down onto the ground, and did not move.  Fans around the country immediatly started praying.  Then, as Kevin was being placed aboard the ambulance, we saw athletes gathered on the field praying to the Lord for the safety of another man.  The game was finished, but immediately afterwards the players on both sides, and across the NFL, raced to see how Kevin was doing.  The early prognosis was not good.  A cervical spinal injury.  A life threatening injury sustained by a 25 year old kid playing the game he loves.  Lifetime paralysis was what all the doctors were saying at first.  And still the nation prayed.  A few days later, Kevin was moving a few fingers in his right hand.  The doctors said not to get too excited.  So, the nation continued to pray.  Days passed, and the prognosis improved.  Now Kevin may only be paralyzed from the waist down.  So, the nation continued to pray.  Today the announcement came that Kevin will walk again.  He will be in rehab to start walking in the next few weeks.  Nothing short of a miracle.

The Sports Miracle that occured was the fact that God used Kevin Everett to bring people to Him.  To solidify ALL things are possible through Jesus Christ.  You see, Kevin Everett may never play football again.  But he rests in the Lord's hands.  He showed that through his injury and recovery that the power of prayer can and will heal and restore if you believe in the Lord.

I thank Kevin Everett for his inspiration, in staying in high spirits through the worst.  But more importantly I praise the Lord for revealing Himself to the nation.

The Nation Prayed...And the Lord showed up.
