There be a storm brewing in the tropics and "The U". Miami was completely dominant in their 34-17 destruction of the previously unbeaten Aggies of Texas A&M. Kyle Wright needed to have a big game and that's exactly what he did going 21 for 26, for 275 and a pair of TD passes. Also noteworthy was the steller play of the Miami Defense, which derailed an A&M offense that had been averaging 40 plus points per game. Makes you wonder where that defense was in the Oklahoma game. While the win doesn't make Miami a National Championship contender or anything like that...it does serve notice to the ACC that Miami expects to contend for the ACC Championship, and will be tough for whoever they face the rest of the way.
Which brings us to our Fearless Picks of the Week (or Useless picks of the Week....Your Choice) :
Oklahoma at Tulsa - Oklahoma
Washington State at USC - USC
South Carolina at LSU - LSU
Florida at Mississippi - Florida
East Carolina at West Virginia - West Virginia
Arizona at California - California
Rica at Texas - Texas
Northwestern at Ohio State - Ohio State
Iowa at Wisconsin - Wisconsin
Penn State at Michigan Shocker of the Week, Michigan
Also in the Top 25 I like Oregon, Boston College, Clemson, Louisville, Hawaii, South Florida, Nebraska, and Missouri to post victories. In the two other huge SEC clashes tomorrow....I like Alabama at home to take out Georgia, but it will be as close as last weeks game with Arkansas for the Tide. Speaking of Arkansas, the Razorbacks are home to Kentucky this weekend. Are the Wildcats for real ??? I mean the look real, however scoring against Louisville's defense isn't that tough. A high School team could do that. I'm leaning towards Arkansas in a bounce back game at home. However if the Cats get rolling early, they will upset the Backs.

I don't want to say it, but I told you that your pick of Texas A&M over Miami was going against the magic of an OB game on Thursday Night (where Miami is an all-time 11-1, 10-0 since 86) can have and the reasons why a so-called down-and-out Miami is most dangerous at home.
Aggies came in over confidence and untested (Montana State, LaTech, and some other twinkie). Well, they left like so many have after a night game at the OB: battered, bruised, and looking for a reason why it happened. The reason is simple: It was a good ol' fashioned butt kicking to use a Southern expression, and a statement by the Canes.
Although this was a great victory for the ACC, our brothers in the ACC should be afraid; they should be very afraid for a sleepy giant has awoken and they are remembering how talented they really are and how to play again.
See you in Tallahasee on Oct 20; where the preview to this year's ACC championship game will be played, and the ACC will finally have its marquee teams. GO CANES!
