South Carolina (3-0 1-0 SEC) at LSU (3-0 1-0 SEC)

When I looked at this game the very first time I felt there was no way for South Carolina to win this game and I still feel that way. I know that the so-called experts say that South Carolina has a very good shot in this game. I just don't see it. I know Steve Spurrier is this great coach and he loves to coach in these big game. The problem is no matter how great of a coach he is, his team is not even close to the talent level of LSU right now. I don't think South Carolina can move the ball on LSU defense. LSU defense ranks 1st in the country in holding the other team to an average of 2.3 points a game and an average of just 128.3 yards per game. They also rank second in the country in pass defense by just giving up 98.3 yards a game. LSU defense also ranks 3rd in the country by giving up just 30 yards per game in the ground. I don't see South Carolina moving the ball on offense. Running backs Cory Boyd and Mike Davis is going to have their work cut out for them and I really don't see them having a lot of success. I also don't see Blake Mitchell being the type of quarterback that can lead South Carolina against a defense like LSU. The one key for South Carolina is going to be defense if they have any hope of pulling off the upset. Their defense is not bad at all. They are real strong against the pass as they rank 6th in the country by just giving up 114.7 yards per game. The question will be can they stop LSU ground game. LSU does not have one guy but a group of guys that can run the ball. If LSU can run the ball then this game will not be close. If they can't run the ball then it will be a little bit harder than expected but they still should win this game.

Kentucky (3-0 0-0 SEC) at Arkansas (1-1 0-1 SEC)

I know this is not the big match up of the weekend but I love this game. You have Arkansas that runs the ball and Kentucky that can't stop the run. Then you have Kentucky passing and an Arkansas defense that has trouble stopping the pass. This could be a fun and wild game. Kentucky can run the ball but they're more known for their quarterback (Andre' Woodson) and their passing attack. This is perfect for Kentucky offense as they face an Arkansas defense that ranks 97th in the country by giving up 33.5 points a game and rank 85th in the country by giving up 413 yards per game on defense. Arkansas also ranks 97th in pass defense. Arkansas is going to have to pick it up on defense of they can be in another shoot out this week. The big problem with Kentucky is their rush defense. They rank 87th in the country and that is very bad news as Arkansas loves to run the ball and then they love to run the ball more. I look for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones to both have big games. This will also keep the Kentucky offense off the field. The other bad news is Kentucky has a couple of defensive players hurt and not sure if they will play. If they don't play, then it could even big a longer day for Kentucky defense. I think this game will start out as a shoot out but over time, Arkansas will pull away with their strong running game.
