How long will we continue to sit back and allow Husker Athletic Director Steve Pederson to continue telling the world that keeping Husker head coach Bill Callahan is the answer to our problems ?  Take your heads out of the sand and realize we did not lose last week to USC, but rather we were slaughtered by a USC team that could have easily scored 60 or more in that game if they chose to.  Then look at our scores since Callahan joined our program against every Top 10 team we've played.  No wins, almost all routes in losses.  Now BALL STATE ?  Are you telling me that BALL STATE can get better recruits than the University of Nebraska ?  Of course not !  So the only answer I can give you is that BALL STATE has better coaching than UN, apparantly significantly better.  If Pederson won't accept he made a huge mistake here, then somebody better find a way to help him understand.  It's time to find a new head coach for this storied program that has lost its way.

Maybe a better idea would be to accept the fact the days when recruits would fall all over themselves to play in Lincoln are over.

I know Huskers fans don't want to hear this, but the fact is, they won as much as they did in the 90s because Osbourne ran a nearly perfect offense, and was always able to put a top-flight defense on the field. However, their offense had to be surgically run and dominated by the quarterback. Today's high school QBs don't want to continue running the option in college, because college option QBs are, at best WRs in the pros.

Nebraska lost its legendary coach, and no longer did they have the ability to get the best and smartest athletes from the region to play the RB who gets the ball from center. That's when they lost the only advantage they had over monster schools who grow skill position players out of the campus quad's lawn.

Nebraska just doesn't have the foothold on specifically marketed recruits the way they used to. It's pretty much over for any national championship hopes for a while. Get used to living the way college football fans outside of California, Texas, Ohio and Florida have been living for decades.

I hate to say it, but I am afraid, deep down, that you are 100% correct. But with that said, clearly Callahan can coach offense, but he cannot recruit defense. THAT is where our problem is at. There is a HUGE talent void there, and you CAN recruit top defensive players at NU. A talented incoming freshman is almost GUARANTEED to start on this team. And this is a storied program.......or at least it was. I'm keeping hope.....knowing you are probably right.

You are all nuts! Ladies and Gentlemen we almost got beat by Ball State.
Hate to kill your hopes. But the Millard West and Central High School coaches are better then what we have. Get a clue. The best coaches in Lincoln Nebraska are not at the the University Of Nebraska. Their not coaches they're jokes. I would take any high school coach in Nebraska before I'd hire the idiots we have now. Sorry. Go LSU and Bo Pellini.

Guys,
Pederson killed the program and now we have to just move ahead. Callahan and the west coast offense are not doing anything for us. The offense is too hard for a player to learn in 4 years and all we are doing is getting them ready for the NFL.
The rest of this year is a roll of the dice on how are offense is going to perform. Keller is a good quarterback but, he is only here for one year; then what?
The U needs to start looking at quality college coaches not, has been pro coaches that are just interested in the money. Callahan will be looking for a buy out on his contract by next season. The U will give it to him in 3 years and then it starts all over.
The thing that kills me is we had a coaching staff that was invested in the U and we canned them. All hail his majesty Pearlman and his jester pederson.

Doc, you are on the money. Callahan is BEYOND lucky to have had Keller drop in his lap. This kid is super, but he's gone next year. Quick question for all of you: What state is Ball State located in ? EXACTLY ! You have no frigging clue ! But they should have beat Nebraska yesterday. FIRE CALLAHAN ! FIRE PEDERSON !! NOWWWWWW !!!!

I just hope, and I can't believe I'm saying this, that the Cyclones beat the tar out of the Blackshirts and that they snuff Crapahans ever so precious west coast offence. And I hope every other team they play from here on out does the same thing until we get a AD and coach that are committed to Husker tradition and not just winning games, but winning games with class. mere 1 point near-losses just wont cut it. I have been a fan of HUSKER FOOTBALL my entire life. the coaching staff we have now has turned our beloved team into a JOKE wearing Husker uniforms.
