I never thought the day would come when I would be proud to be a Syracuse football fan.
However, Syracuse's win over No. 18 Louisville wasn't exactly promising to watch throughout the whole game.
First Quarter:
It started off smoothly for the 'Cuse, with quarterback Andrew Robinson hooking up with wide receiver Taj Smith for a 79 yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game.
Second Quarter:
After the Orange held Louisville scoreless in the first quarter, Brian Brohm completed a 4 yard touchdown pass to Scott Kuhn to tie it up at 7-7 after the extra point. On the following kickoff, Syracuse's Max Scooter returned the ball 93 yards for a touchdown. With 3:57 left in the half, Robinson threw a 42 yard touchdown pass to Da'Mon Merkerson. Syracuse entered the locker room at halftime with a 21-7 lead.
Third Quarter:
Louisville struck first in the second half, showing signs of life when Harry Douglas caught a 35 yard touchdown pass from Brohm, making it 21-14. In a drive consisting of 2 plays and that lasted 32 seconds, Smith caught another Robinson pass for a 60 yard touchdown reception. Syracuse kicker Patrick Shadle made the score 31-14 before the end of the third quarter with a 26 yard field goal.
Fourth Quarter:
The Cardinals were the first to score once again with a 2 yard touchsown pass from Brohm to Gary Barnidge. The Orange struck back with Robinson throwing a 17 yard touchdown pass to Mike Williams. After Louiville running back George Stripling ran for a 2 yard touchdown, Robinson fumbled the ball, resulting in Brohm connecting with wide receiver Patrick Carter for his fourth touchdown pass of the game. This made the score 38-35, causing worry for Syracuse fans. Louisville's kicker kicked the ball only about 3 yards on an onside kick attempt, putting the ball back in Robinson's hands. The sophmore quarterback held on to the ball, and Syracuse pulled off one of the biggest upsets we have seen this season.
Coming into the game, Syracuse was ranked 117th out of 120 Division 1-A teams in total yards per game with 225.3. Louisville was ranked first in that category, with 623.0 yards per game.
Brohm, a Heisman candidate, played very well. He had 555 passing yards, 4 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions whille completing 45 out of 65 passes
Robinson also played a very well, with 423 passing yards, 4 touchdown passes, and no interceptions. He did this while completing an efficient 17 out of 26 passes.
In a game that seemed to favor the number 18th ranked team in the country, a team burried at the bottom of its conference with an 0-3 record came out on top, 38-35. The game is arguably the biggest upset in Big East history.

Seriously...is there any point watching college football any more? The best three teams are the only ones who have a legitimate chance of winning, because teams like Louisville lose to Syracuse...
No offense, Orange...
