Here we go again. Just when you thought we were safe, comes the Michael Vick debacle. Not the dogfighting but the issue of race in America. What's really confusing is how two intelligent people can look at the same thing and see something completely different. But it appears that's exactly what we've done. Why? How does this happen? I lived in Los Angeles during the O.J. trial. I watched African-Americans celebrating in the street after the verdict. Did they really think he was innocent, or were they glad he wasn't convicted? I've got news for you people. O.J. is a murderer. There cannot be reparation for miscarriages of justice that took place in the courts in the past. You can't get paid back. What whites need to understabnd is that the day is also past when Black people will simply except whatever "Justice" the court decides upon. If you were not outraged about the verdict in the Rodney King case, or the Robert Blake trial, you have no right to be outraged about O.J. If you feel differently, it's time for a check-up from the neck up.
If you find anything in the Michael Vick story other than a guy who broke the law and lied about it, there is a problem. Vick should go to jail because he pleaded guilty to the charges against him. And I refuse to listen to the argument that dogfighting was a part of his culture. I know better.
