The Champ Speaks!

NFL DRAFT TOP  5 PICKS

The sports world is buzzing about these stories, lets see what the Champ says, so we know the Truth about it….

The NFL Draft Top 5 picks–

So much is made of the NFL draft that it has become second only to the Super Bowl in hype. The only hopes of desperate fans often rest in the laps of the young star draft picks, presuming they can bring a title to their favorite teams. I believe the impact of the draft is highly overrated, as players rarely make waves until their second and third seasons, top picks have a high flop rating while garnering huge paydays, and the real gems tend to go in later rounds, when you have no idea who or what they are to become.

However, there are some teams in desperate need of help, and their picks are the most relevant to the rest of the draft, lets analyze

Oakland Raiders - A despicable franchise committed to excrement since the departure of Jon Gruden. With Darth Davis at the helm of this ship, you never can tell where they are going to go. The majority of the world believes they are going for JaMarcus Russell, who is the logical decision, being that the illogical decision of getting Aaron Brooks has come back to haunt them.  But Al Davis LOVES receivers and I wouldn’t be surprised if he drafted Calvin Johnson, and attempts to lure a veteran QB such as Trent Green over to the black hole. Davis wants to win NOW, not after a few years of QB development. The team had a mutiny last season under the un-inspiring leadership of Art Shell, and the fans are not too far behind. I don’t see Al doing the obvious.

Detroit Lions There are rumors coming out of Detroit that they are looking to draft Calvin Johnson. If they draft a WR for the fourth time in 5 years with the top pick, I think its fair if the fans roll up to Millens office and burn it down (KIDDING!! PLEASE DON’T). This has got to be a joke, yet I honestly don’t think it is. Detroit’s ownership has betrayed its fans worse than the York’s have betrayed our beloved 49ers.  I think the NFL should step in and do something about this team’s incomprehensible incompetence.

However, that shouldn’t be necessary since the Raiders picked up Johnson, and they go with the easy pick, Brady Quinn at number 2.

Cleveland Browns – Another group of fans that deserve justice. The Browns have so many needs its hard to pick just one, but the offense is going to rely heavily on running to invigorate the passing game with Edwards and Winslow. They only signed up Jamal Lewis to a 1-year deal, which I think would give them a perfect opportunity to draft Adrian Peterson and allow him to slowly grasp the game splitting carries with Lewis.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – They have struggled mightily since their Super Bowl season a few years back, they wanted Johnson BAD, but the Raiders grabbed him. This leaves them with either Gaines Adams, the stud pass rusher out of Clemson, or JaMarcus Russell. Simeon Rice has been a pain in the rear for Gruden, so don’t be surprised if he looks to replace him with Adams. Drafting Russell would be big, and I don’t think they expect to be able to, but with the recent signing of Garcia, and Simms still rumored to be in the coaches favor, don’t count on it.

Arizona Cardinals – The Cards have some real talent right now, it will interesting to see how it comes together. I think they will go with the logical decision of Joe Thomas from Wisconsin. LT is their biggest need, and he is one of the better tackles in recent draft memory. This should be a great addition to the AZ offensive line, which has left something to be desired in years past.
