RAIDERS LOOKS TO EXORCIZE DEMONS
Where: Jones Stadium, Lubbock
When: 7:00 pm

Ok, so the great start got derailed slightly when conference play started. What do you expect? The offense continued to put up some ungodly numbers, now Harrell is starting to get some national attention (two mentions in this week’s Sports Illustrated, a fine publication I must say) and hopefully our stud receivers have forgotten about the last 2:40 minutes of the Oklahoma State loss.
Did I mention that Leach fired the Defensive Coordinator? No? Oh, well in case you’ve only seen the in-depth every reporter on board analysis of Mike Gundy’s tirade against a college reporter, you may have missed that Coach Setenich was asked to resign for personal reasons on Sunday. I feel sorry for this guy because for years, Leach’s offense has continuously put the D in short field positions and there’s no way you can recruit top tier talent when the players know they are probably less important in the eyes of the head coach than the special teams players. So in comes Ruffin McNeil. Guys been at Tech for awhile and has D-coordinator experience so guess we’ll see what happens. He’s already burning red shirts and bringing new blood in. Of course the defense better look damn good the next two weeks and be fixed before the Aggies and their option attack come to town. Javorskie Lane would run through last weekend’s defense like crap through a goose.
So how about the Northwestern State Demons? I’ll give you a wooden nickel if you know where they are from. Natchtoches, Louisiana, which I believe comes right after Bumphuk, Tx on the list of places to see before you die. They’ve beaten powerhouses Henderson State and Central Arkansas, but lost an ESPN classic to Northeastern. They have a true sophomore at quarterback in Germayne Edmund (Ed for short) and a junior RB. Biggest issue I see is they lost two senior safeties and with the big play potential of Crabtree and Harrell, look for some bombs.
FUN WITH NUMBERS:
Vegas Line – none
Plano, TX Line Tech -42
Northwestern won Southland Conference in ’88, ’97, ’98, ‘04
