I'm sure we've all heard about the plight of your average athlete (Sprewell,, Marion, TO, etc) It basically does not matter who you talk about its always the same sob story like sure I'm an athlete who signed a multimillion dollar contract and I realize that I'm supposed to make $20 million a year but its not enough money. I WANT MORE. This is the state of America folks. We have teachers, policemen, firefighters, doctors people who actually make a difference in our society who help other people and they may make 30, 40, even 50 thousand dollars a year and they don't complain. The problem here people is that we live in a society that puts entertainers to a very high regard and we pay them millions of dollars ( that they don't deserve) to entertain
Here's my solution: We redo the system and pay them like everyone else. In my system there are no contracts just salaries of ordinary people for example:
Base salary Year 1: $20,000
Performance Bonus: $5,000
Roster Bonus (if applicable) $5,000
and so on and so forth the salaries would escalate based on performance of the players the previous year of the deal so in the second year the players would start off earning $30,000 performance and roster bonuses would go up slightly on a percentage scale and maybe that would make the tickets a little more affordable for the average fan
